Now that Lorrie is gone most of the day, I like to enjoy my freedom. Right now, Bella, Alex, and I are playing a game of checkers on the living room floor.
"I win!" Alex shouts to Bella. Now you have to play against me, Lissa,"
In ten minutes I have won the game. "Let's do something else now," I suggest.
"Like what?" Alex and Bella look at me waiting for an answer.
"I don't know but I'm getting sick of this game."
"I know! We could play monopoly!" Bella suggests. Alex nods in agreement and I sigh in defeat. Am I the only one who wants more with my life?
My life goes on. So does Loretta's. Lorrie gets back from school every afternoon and plays with us for an hour until she does her homework. Sometimes she brings her new friends over to play and she shows us off like some sort of prize horse. I lose track of the time and Loretta grows bigger and bigger. She adds a baby to our little house and the sisters coo over the little gurgling thing 24/7. Soon she only plays with us once a month and listens to her vinyls in her room doing algebra and watching the television. We become old child's toys and my sisters become depressed. Everyday they ask,
"why won't Loretta play with us anymore?"
"Maybe she doesn't like us?
"Maybe she thinks we're boring."
I ignore their questions for the most part, spending my time with the baby. Lorrie never named the baby because she got bored with us soon after with the excitement of school and a social life with other spoiled little girls. I call the baby, baby, and read to her each night. I hope she'll share my desire for something more when she gets older.Soon Loretta forgets about is completely and we are left to live our simple lives in the dollhouse.
