Chapter 3.
The drive was slow, Mr. David was on his cellphone and all i could make out were the words they wont return to school tomorrow, I knew it was Mrs. Bethany on the other end of that call.
A few stop lights went by before it ended, Mr. David seemed angry, but he didn't let it show. I stared at him briefly then looked out the window watching the Endless rows of Street lights while they illuminated the ground as we passed, it was quiet. There was about a million and one things going through my head, things i hoped would be explained once we arrived back. Logically I knew we'd get more questions than answers, it was the usual routine.
Arriving at Division was nothing short of pleasant, The complex looked dark from the outside. Mr. David stopped spoke swiftly with his partner Mr. Max, the lobby was dimly lit, Beatrice hastily walked inside, disappearing out of eyesight, nobody had to ask where she was going.. the only place she ever went was her room."Amelia, why don't you go as well, I've got to brief Mr. Carson on the situations and business to handle before tomorrow. We've got an early start. 5 a.m. Get some sleep." Mr. David tells me, briefly glancing at me then walked across the lobby towards a conference room. i stood there watching them walk away. "This place really has gotten more strange. sometimes I wonder why I'm still hanging around here." I thought, shifting my gaze towards the elevator once more.
"Its always been 5a.m. I dont know why you like that so much. it has actually been a pain in ASS truthfully" I shouted, after them, he waved in response. Sleeping, at night was something i rarely did. everyone knew that. However with most of the other's already in their room's or in meetings. I decided to seek out the few people, i knew didn't sleep at night either and there was only one place to go in order to find them. The roof, it was more of a big screened in room than an actual roof. but it worked if you didnt want to be found.. Elevator doors opened letting the cold night air rush in. I could hear laughter and smell smoke instantly, using this as a guide finding my friends was fairly easy. they were seated on the oversized couches around the fire pit in a semi circle.
"Hey there, thanks for finally joining us! late as usual." Mason said leaning forward a bit as i sat down in an empty chair, "Well, dont keep us waiting already, tell us about your night with Beatrice?" Hanna asked, nudging me in the arm, "Its Nothing new when it comes to her. She's still the same as before. Overly Emotionally. And what happened the plan didn't go well?" I asked looking around at them, "Well You cant keep handling her with kid gloves either, she has to learn on her own just like we did. obviously the plan did not good or we'd be back at school already right?" Bram said, casually sitting down, locking his gaze on me, I met it.The others sat quietly, talking among themselves. "As much fun as this turned into there's a 5am wake up call and its 3a.m. so i'm going to watch tv. Who's coming?" Mason said, Glaring at Bram before, suddenly getting up and stalking off towards the Elevators. The others followed. "Jeeze, thanks for abandoning me guys!" I shouted, hearing the Elevator doors bing open or closed. Now, It was Myself and Bram on the roof. The view from Division was one of the best in the whole city, Nothing but endless lights and ocean to look at. "Ugh, I don't see how I always end up alone... With you. It so doesn't make this any easier." I said to myself as I stared out at the view.
"I don't suppose you've eaten yet?" Bram asked, His dark Green eyes looking at me from a distance I wasnt sure what to make of it. "No, We got pulled out before our orders came" I said, glancing at him. meeting his gaze for a moment. "Good, I ordered Chinese food-- Sent out for it actually." He retorted, Tension and silence came back between us, its been this way for as long as i can remember. Since Sabine Ruined everything.
"Look I appreciate the offer, Its not a good idea and you know that and by the way thanks for not anthe phone ass." I hesitated, walking towards the elevator, the doors opened seconds later, Right before they shut. Bram stepped it, staying on the other side away from me. He was more annoyed than before. "Firstly- I didn't call back as I knew you were on the way here. Second- You know i hate when you do that. its annoying as Hell. Besides it was a simple question." He said, running his fingers through his thick black hair. I stared at him for a moment longer.
