They hadn't spoken to each other in a week and Mariah found herself living the lyrics of her least favorite single.

Once again we sit in silence...

They were currently sitting across from each other eating dinner, casting an occasional over at one another. It was the first time she had seen him all day, since lately he had been spending more and more time in the studio, even though his album was coming out the next day. Anything to avoid being around her, she supposed.

If he wants to be stubborn fine. Two can play at that game.

Thanksgiving was three days away and if he didn't speak to her by tomorrow she was going to go back to New York to spend the holiday with her mother. If she went back to New York for Thanksgiving, Michael wouldn't see her again until February because she would be spending the holidays with her family and friends, people who acted like they wanted her around.

She got up and put the dishes in the dishwasher before going back to her room. Tommy had advised her to start writing songs for her third album since she wouldn't be doing a tour for Emotions. She pulled her songbook out of the nightstand and turned to the last song she worked on, All I've Ever Wanted.

If you only knew

What I feel for you

If you only lived for me

The way I lived for you

I'd be in heaven

All my dreams would come true

Looking over the first verse, Mariah frowned as the last line seemed to mess with the melody in her head. She went over the line a few more times in her head before crossing the "all" out with finality. The new line read, "My dreams would come true" instead and the line no longer bothered her.

'Cause all I ever wanted

Is you

And you alone

Mariah sighed at the unfinished chorus and felt tears forming in her eyes as she mulled over her situation. She flipped the page to another song to work on, but nothing came to her. She sighed as she looked over All I Ever Wanted again and tried singing little parts to herself.

"And I want you so much that you..." She shook her head. "I need you more than..."

She sighed again. "I hate him. I really do."

She closed her notebook and threw it across the room.

I hope he's not busy.

She picked up the phone to call Tommy, but she heard Michael's voice, signalling that he was using the phone. She covered her mouth as she listened in.

"Tell me what I should do." Michael was saying.

A male voice replied. "Well, Michael you've gotta stop being so stubborn. Let her know how you feel, but don't make it sound like you're accusing her of something. You've got a tendency-"

"I do not." Michael retorted.

The voice chuckled. "See what I mean? I'm telling you this because you're my little brother. Don't act like Jermaine."

Then Michael laughed. "Jermaine is a trip."

He sure is.

"Exactly. Don't be him. I still can't believe he came to my birthday party with Margaret's son while Hazel was pregnant." The brother said.
