The Mermaid and the Shark

Tried, and failed

"Father..." I say while looking at him. His face is very red; and he looks tired. Probably running the sea.

"Juvia I have told you time, and time again to be nice to your guards!" He yelled his face getting redder by the minute. He takes a deep breath then says more calmly "Juvia they risk there lives to protect you." "Father Juvia knows that it's just that Juvia really would like less guards." My father gave me a look. "Why Do you want less guards Juvia?" My father asks while preparing himself. So I can go to the surface is what I want to say; but instead i say "Having 10 guards is a little to much father. Other mer people look at me weirdly."

My father considers this finally he says "Fine; but I want you to promise me that you won't disappear on them." He gives me the look that says you better not be lying. I nod my head.

Suddenly the door open; and in comes somebody. I can't see them though because my dad is blocking said mer person.

"Just in time." My father says while turning around to face the other person. "Glad to be here your highness." It sounds like a guy voice.

"Thank you for doing the job that your doing." My father says. Then my father says "Juvia meet our newest recruit." I slowly swim to my fathers side to see who it is. I look to see., shark boy. Oh no.

I look around him, and say "Where Juvia doesn't see anyone." My father says "Juvia he is right there." Okay so we do have some sharks who work at the castle; but it's rare. This guy is a jerk I can't believe he will be working here. "Shark boy?" I say while pointing to Gray.

My father nods then says "Gray this is Juvia." Gray is his name. Makes sense. He bows while saying "Your Highness."

"Anyway Gray is going to be your body guard." My father says.

"What." I say while glaring at him.

"Father anyone but him." I say while pointing to Gray. Gray says nothing. My father says "You wanted less guards which I'm giving you; but i will only trust you with Gray. He was at the top of his class. I trust him." My father hardly trusts anyone. It's extremely rare.

I will also get my freedom. "Fine then I guess Gray is my new body guard." Then I say "Juvia will show him around father, why don't you get some rest." Then I start swimming. I look behind me once to see that Gray is following.

"Okay Gray so here is the dining room." I say while showing it to him. "Dinner is usually at 8:00 pm so yeah." I say while taking him to the hallway. "Now this hallway leads to three different rooms. The room on the left down the cream colored hallway is the kitchen, the right hallway with the brown paint leads to the gardens, and lastly this blue hallway leads to Juvias favorite place the library." I quickly lead Gray to Library. I open the doors of seaweed.

I smile as I quickly look to the fantasy section. I grabbed a book called the Naming. It looks really good. I open the page to see if I like it or not. This book is excellent! It's all about this girl named Maerad and a guy named Cadvan I'm excited. I look to see Gray looking at books. He is looking at them though with boredom.

I smile and say "Would you like to get a book on how to be mean to a princess. Juvia means you already do it so well." Gray just shakes his head; and says "No just wait until his highness figures out what his daughter does in her freedom." I quickly look around. No one seems to be in here but is.

Phew if one of the servants heard that I'd be in trouble. "Come on." I say while going to tell Marty which book I want. "Hey Marty, Juvia would like to borrow this one please." Marty chuckles then says "You've read it already why do you want to read it again?" I smile and say "Juvia loves the adventure; and all the characters." Marty chuckles then says "Okay princess whatever floats your boat." I hate when the other mer people call me princess.

"Calm me Juvia please." He nods; add says "I know you've told me a dozen times." I smile then leave.

Grays POV

I can't believe how excited she was about reading. I mean it's nothing special. When her face lit up though she looked gorgeous . I mean don't get me wrong princess Juvia is beautiful; but in that moment where her eyes lit up and they sparkled I had trouble breathing.

I also im surprised that she knew Marty's name let alone that she'd be so kind to him. She laughed with him like the fact that he is a servant here didn't matter. I wonder if she does this with anyone else?

Suddenly Juvia says "Oh no! I forgot that my lesson is going to start. Gray come on we need to get to the kitchen." She grabs my arm; and swims to through the brown hallway.

The kitchen looked clean; and well kept. There was a fire going; and it smelled really good. There was a few ovens; and a lot of workers. All wearing aprons; and chef hats.

"Juvia is sorry that she is late!" Juvia says while putting on an apron; and one of the hats. A lady who looked to be in her mid thirties said "That's okay Juvia just get out your things." She nods then grabs a cutting board, a knife, and some dough I think.

I watch as Juvia attempts to make some cookies. I was the test dummy. None of them turned out well. I decided to help cause this was the third batch and I could tell her teacher was getting frustrated.

"Juvia try beating your eggs softer." Then I took her whisp; and showed her how to do it. Then I let her do it; but I put my hand on it to help her. Finally she started getting the hang of it. I realized the position we were in so I moved.

Once the cookie were baked; and they actually taste good.

So far my first day as Juvias guard was actually going well. I didn't realize how Juvia was so down to earth.
