As a kid, I often wondered what's behind those lies. Why people tell lies, why are they so obsess with lies, why they hide the truth or why the truth is always not good enough.
Although I can see lies, I can't see the truth. I can't read people's mind of truth. I only know when they're lying.***
I touched the cold window in the university's cafeteria, waiting for a guy that was buying me a tea for around $3.15. I guess I should pay him back before he ask me for money.
"Here, have a cup of tea" Jimin reached the small cup of hot tea to me. I stared at him and gave a weak smile.
"Ah, you really don't have to" Even though I said that, I knew I had a chance to stop him from buying me a tea but I can just pay him back.
Jimin shook his head and sighed, he handed me the cup of tea again. I had no choice but to accept it. He look annoyed. It was hot, making my hands warm in that winter evening. I reached my hand to my pocket where my wallet was, and started counting money."What are you doing?" Jimin moved his head closer to me while drinking his coffee. I realized his was a coffee by the strong sweet smell of it. I backed away a little bit.
"I need to pay you back. I don't want to be indebted by someone" still counting the money, he suddenly smacked his hand to mine.
"Did I tell you to do that? Don't. Let's just sit there and talk comfortably" he pointed at the small table with two green chairs near the window. You just made me uncomfortable, how can talk comfortably? I nodded my head with fear and followed him. As we sat down together, there were no words coming out of our mouths. Too busy to drink our own drinks or busy thinking on what we should talk about. I looked at Jimin, he had his head down to his coffee and blew the coffee so it can cool down. As he noticed my stare, he fixed his sitting position to a straight back and let out a cough.
"So..." Jimin started the conversation, "you finish school early than everyone else?"
"Ah, yes. Just for today, it was a self study class" I looked down and hope he wouldn't think of me as a student who enjoy skipping classes whenever teacher were absent.
"I see, I'm sorry, I must be a stranger to you. We haven't talk before and we only shared a few glances when you were with Jungkook" he smiled making his eyes slowly meeting together.
"No!" I let my voice out, "there's... uh, nothing to be sorry about. I was thankful that you helped me before" I made my hand gestures awkward and he smiled again. Jimin is in his first year of university but he looks like my age. He seemed to be studying computer science and philosophy. Haha, he's such a hardworking student.
"Are you close to Jungkook?" He asked, throwing his cup in the recycling bin. That was fast.
"We barely talk. So I guess, no?" Jimin nodded, " I mean, we just started talking when I first met you. But he's a good guy" aish, what am I talking about. He laughed.
"That's good, be close to him. We all know that he's popular and really easy to talk to. Has many friends and always surrounded by one" I smiled showing my agreement.
"But-" he continued, "in hard times, no friends of his sticks with him. Jungkook has no close friend he can talk his troubles with"
I wonder, Jungkook seemed to be a happy-go-lucky type of guy. He's always smiling and laughing every second.
