"One, two, three, four!"
The music started and we all moved with it.
"Where's Wade?" April asked suddenly. Just then I remembered what did he said earlier.
"He excused himself", I said. "He'll probably pass by latter".
Wade actualy had to pick up some kind of documents.
All of a sudden, he rushed into the hall.
"News... Hu.. Hu.. Coreography... Huh.. Soon... Competition... Huhu.. Hu.." he mutured hardly breathing.
"Easy, Wade", Ket tried to calm him a little.
"Here", Andrew handed his bottle of water to our friend without breath. When he finaly calmed, he spoke.
"A competition... It's in January. The 20th. We have to be prepared 'till then." Everyone made sad faces. Except April.
"Dancing schools competition", Ket explained.
"Yeah. But it used to be in spring. Usually April or May", I said. Then, I smiled when I noticed I mentioned April's name.
"I have to tell you guys that American Sweethearts", he made a grimace, "already have a coreography". He finished. April was confused again
"Our enemies", it was Andrew now. "They usually win. But we won last time, so they are angry." That was enough for April to join our hate stares for American Idiots, as we called them. I mean sweethearts? Come on! They look like devils. They even act like devils.
"There's more", Wade inforemed us , frowning. He took a deep breath.
"Their teacher is gonna organise everything. He's gonna be the judge, as a matter of fact."
We all stared in disbelif. Is this really happening?
I took a quick look through the window. It was October already. We don't have time. At all.
"Ok, here's what are we going to do", April spoke. "I'll go to inform Mrs. Smith about the situation now. I think we should finish this reharsal. Than, we should all go home and make a list of good dancing songs."
"April, we don't have time even for participating", Ket whispered.
"C'mon guys. I'm not trying to be bossy, but we have to do something. We won't gove him the satisfaction of winning without fighting. We're gonna participate and win, or we're gonna die trying to do so. I mean, not literally". She smiled. Ket grinned. Andrew, Wade and I joined this smiling parade.
"Go on", Wade yelled happily.
"Ok, I'll go up to Mrs. Smith now, see you guys tomorrow on a lunch break."
"Today is Saturday, April", Andrew laughed a bit.
"Oh. Ok then. On Monday. And, bring your song lists. Hope and Spence can discuse it with us, then", she finished and rushed out of hall.
The next day, while I was trying to do my math homework, I heard my mom talking to someone.
"He's upstairs", she said. Not Wade again, I thought. He wakes me up every school morning, but he knows to come from time to time just to annoy me.
"Knock, knock", April said. Oh, I didn't think about that. We hang out really often now.
"Come in", I replied. She opened the door. She was smiling widely, as always.
"Hello", I said. As soon as she walked in, my lips imediately flew up.
"Hi, blondy." I laughed. She's funny, isn't she?
"We're going to eat downtown with Spence and Hope, as soon as you finish that homework, math genious." She set beside me. I smiled innocently. I'm not genious at all. I suck in math.
"So, that means I won't go 'till evening. At least", I joked. Well, when I think about it, if April didn't come, I probably wouldn't joke.
"Silly", she said. "That's why I'm here. Let me take a look. No. This is wrong. Look here." I was staring at her. She flashed a smile and turned my had towards my notebook.
"This is why you're making mistakes. It goes like this. See now it makes sence, doesn't it? Here, solve the next one". I took a pencil from her - damn it, she has soft hands - and a deep, deep breath. This can't be that hard, right? After a minute I looked at her in hope. She was staring at my equation. She frowned. Then, she took my pencil again.
"Here. Again from this line. Come on, Alec. It's not that complicated", she smiled.
I interrupted her, just for fun.
"How do you like the idea of Ket and Andrew?" I asked her calmly.
"What the...?", she bigan.
"Don't act, Ap. I saw the way Ket stared at Andrew at his place last month. I forced her to admit she likes him and she begged me not to tell anyone. I just don't belive that she didn't tell you and Hope", I smiled. I really am smart. Ha!
"Fine. See, you are smart, so, back on that equation, mister. We'll never leave!"
So, I looked down on the paper. Equations. Ouch.
Later that day, after at least three hours of a couple 'simple' equations and two energy drinks, we met Hope and Spencer. They were arguing. Normally. Hehe.
I thought that it was a normal fight, as usual, but later I found out that I was wrong.
April and Hope talked about girly things. So, I turned to Spencer.
"How's it going, dude?", I askef him. He looked fed up, I siriously don't know why.
"Coce", Hope said when 'waiter' came.
"Yep, drink soda, fat pig", Spence said. I've never heard him even joking like this before. And this time, he sounded serious. The waiter left. Hope turned to Spencer and sleped him hard. Then, she run to the WC.
April and I stated at him in disbelif. Minutes later, April spoke.
"I - I'll go to find her", she run in the same direction Hope just went.
I still couldn't belive it. This isn't Spencer!
"What the hell is wrong with you, dude?"
