Alec
I decided to do the craziest thing ever.
Change the subject. Did you know that if you want to get from one side of the Louvre to another, it takes you one hour to do so? I tried. Big mistake. April told me that I should concentrate on something, but I only walked through that museum.
April. I've never seen that a beret suits someone so good.
Eiffel Tower. When you look at Paris from it, you see small buildings as far as possible. Only buildings right across the Saine and Sacre Coeur on Montmartre are sticking out for themselves.
It's a huge city, and you can see almost everything from here.
"Don't get to close, April. You can fall of", I joked.
"Can you, Alec? I've never seen anything like this".
"The Empire State Building?" I offered.
"No! This is different. This isn't just one of those tall buildings in New York".
"Hey, I didn't do anything. And don't insult the Building" I tried to protect myself.
"This city is romantic, really", she said for herself. But I heard her and my heart almost exploaded from the beats.
Is it just the effect of the city?"Is this even real?" she wondered, staring at the Saine.
"I've never been in Europe before", she added.
"You want to say that William Red has never taken you in Europe before?"
"Come on, Alec! Seriously? I have a father, not only a grandfather..."
"I'm sorry", I apologized, realizing how stupid I am. I hugged her with one arm. It sent shivers down my spine.
Since we were tired, and we have watched so many views of Paris, we decided just to sit somewhere at the Arc de Triomphe.
"I'm exhausted!" she said, collapsing on the ground. I mean, not literally.
"Yeah. I've never imagined that it would be so fatiguing". Isn't Paris a place where people are having a break from their lives? Not ending them!
"You promised me popcorn!", she complained childishly. I did, actually. But now think clearly and find the popcorn at the Arc.
"You get your popcorn in Disneyland", I replied like a father. She burst out laughing.
"You are so crazy!" I burst out laughing too. Some French people started staring.
"Ils sont fous", one woman said something like that, I think. I didn't pay much attention, but April, my nerd, said in return,
"Non, nous ne sommes pas!" or something similar.
How come that she knows how to answer, or even say something in French? My knowledge begins with Bonjour and ends with Je m'appelle!
It sounds very attractive, too.
"Look, it sparkles!" she said and pointed at the Eiffel Tower. It really did. Golden lights were dancing all over it. It was just beautiful.
"Yaeh, it can even sparkle".
The whole day, I was getting some interesting informations from our guide. I was so distracted by my best friend, that I haven't remembered any of them. And I'm not usually good at memorizing anything except the dancing moves, so you can conclude that I barely remember we even had a guide yesterday. He has a day off today, and probably tomorrow. So, free day for Disneyland. Imagine a situation where your guide bombards you with thousands of amazingly fabulous facts about the Disneyland, resort Paris. For instance, Mister Walt Disney himself created the first characters. You don't say.
"Hey, that guy over there is really cute, don't you want to meet him?" I said, reluctantly. Maybe? Maybe it won't be that bad if she finds her prince charming here?
"But I want to go once more", she said, again childishly. She got her so wanted popcorn.
"What is so cool about the pink castle in which the dolls from all over the world sing along It's a small world?" I asked.
"They are so cute, and they are united like the world will never be, and the queue is short", she pleaded. I'm going to regret this. And, of course, after ten more minutes, little babushkas with red cheeks were dancing around my head.
"April, please. Let's go somewhere. Where everything is normal. And where everything is more mature".
She burst into tears, her laughter was loud.
"What?"
"You used the word mature for something connected with Disneyland?"
Oh.
And then another happy surreal son started, along with carnival, Mickey and Minnie, princesses and their slaves - or princes, as they call them in cartoons.
They were dancing and singing Do you believe in magic? As many times as you like.
"I don't believe in magic, I believe in engineers, designers and money", I said more to myself.
"In some way. But isn't it really magical, to exist a place like this, where are no problems and reality".
"April, you also pay for that".
"In our case, you don't".
"Yes, but we've been working hard".
"But you also need magic for that. I think you call it luck. Believe".
We were in Merlyn's Cave, alone, if you don't count the dragon.
I just have to do that right now.
"I love you, April", I said.
"I love you to, but can we go now", she said, tripped on a little jackstone and fell to the ground. I set in front of her.
"No. I mean like, I'm in love with you".
"I... I... I love you to".
So that's what she was talking about. Magic, faith, believing, hope.
I kissed her, and then and there, on the floor of the dragon's cave, everything was perfect.
