The Meeting

Chapter 2 - Second thoughts

The next day, I drive to work with my mind still so scattered from last night. I can't believe what I did. It's not like me at all, but my god, it was fun and so erotic. He said that I was his now. What does that mean? Am I to be his new assistant and will I be expecting more evenings like that? I wouldn't say no. I mean, I would say no... I think. Yes, I am worth more than that!

I somehow make it to work, yet remember nothing from the drive here, like I was in a trance the whole drive. I'm surprised I didn't cause an accident. I make my way into the elevator and press the button for the fifth floor. Ignoring him would be the best option for today, I think. The elevator stops at the ground level and five people shuffle on board, cramming me into the back against the mirrored wall. Two blondes are avidly talking in front of me about plans for the weekend. This kind of chatter doesn't interest me anymore. All the 'OMG's and 'Like's get on my nerves and just make them seem dumb, when I know for a fact that one of them is very bright from when I went to school with  her.

The elevator stops at the fifth floor and I push my way through them, much to their eye rolls and snarky looks at me. Bigger problems are on my plate right now than them. Glass doors slide noiselessly open and I stride into the office. I chose to wear my high red heels today, paired with a black pencil skirt and white blouse. My hair was flat ironed and brought up into a tight bun on the top of my head. It was supposed to be even hotter today and I can't stand my frizzy hair in the heat.

Tom walks briskly into the office after me and pulls on my arm to steer me towards his office. I already know why and I wasn't looking forward to talking to him about my encounter with Hunt.

"So, tell me what happened," he asked, rushing me inside and pulling the door shut behind him. "He watched you leave and ran after you in a hurry. Surely he said something to you?"

"Not much. He expressed interest in me and that was about it. I don't think we have anything to worry about Tom," I reassure him and walk out of his office, before he can ask me any more questions. I walk right into a solid wall of muscle and peer up into the hard brown eyes of Hunt. He really needs to stop doing that.

"Well well, Miss Strand. I didn't expect to see you again so soon and looking so ravishing," he says with a growl. My god, he looks heavenly today in an amazing suit with a bright red tie on, matching my shoes. He sees me glance at it and his eyes scan down to my shoes. He raises one eyebrow at me in a very sexy way. I want to blurt out all I'm thinking, but I settle for my sarcasm in response, to keep him on his toes.

"Well, it's not like I work here or anything. No, I came here just for you," I reply with my own eyebrow raised at him.

"Oh, you will come here for me, several times I might add," he murmured. My cheeks instantly heat and I can do nothing as the corner of his mouth jerks up and he goes into Tom's office. Wow, smooth Zoe.

I settle at my desk, which is next to Tom's with a convenient door between so I can zip in quickly when needed, which is very often. I try to strain to hear the conversation that they are having, but the frosted glass seems to soften all noises. All I can hear is a low voice commanding the conversation and a small squeak in response every now and then. Obviously Hunt is being a big bully today. I start my computer up and watch the screen jump to life. Talking stops next door and I hear Hunt leave. Thankfully, he doesn't come to my office, and he leaves instead.

I start up my email program and check through the list of unread emails for anything urgent, but there is nothing that needs to be dealt with right now. I make some coffee at the small machine over in the corner. He always asks for coffee and today will be no exception. Sure enough, I hear the email notification come through like always.
