I stand at a kiosk in the airport, casually browsing the items on sale. The lady explains enthusiastically about some product for hair, but I’m not really paying attention. Instead, my eyes drift to Damien, who is sitting on a chair watching me with eyes filled with love, and desire. I feel my cheeks redden at his penetrative gaze, which seems to go straight to the core of my body. You would think I would be used to it by now, but I’m not and I hope that I never do.
I can even see the corner of his mouth twitch up from here and I instantly know what he’s thinking about, which makes my cheeks enflame even more.
“Umm, no thank you,” I mutter to the lady before buying myself a coffee from the next kiosk – a large coffee, half hot chocolate. Perhaps a mixture of the caffeine and sugar will wake me up a little. I’m still so behind on my sleep that I could curl up on the floor right here and take a nap. I wander back to Damien, stifling a yawn and dragging my feet across the tiled floor.
“You’re going to sleep so well on the plane, which is fine I guess because we have a long flight ahead of us,” he says whilst pulling me down to sit next to him.
“Are you even going to tell me where we’re going yet? You know I’ll figure it out as soon as we go to the gate right?”
“Yes, but it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy keeping it from you.” He shoots a cheeky grin at me and kisses my temple.
“Ugh, I just want to know now. The suspense is killing me.”
“You wanted me to surprise you, so I am!”
“I just wish that I had something to go on. All I know is that we’re going to be somewhere warm.”
“It was one of your requisites was it not?”
“Yes, I just didn’t think you would listen to me. I figured you would just go with what you wanted,” I respond truthfully. Everyone knows his dominant side and how much he likes to get his way, so why would this be any different?
“Hmmm, you got me there. Well maybe what you want is also what I want,” he says with a shrug of his shoulders. “Are you excited?”
“Am I excited to actually spend time with you rather than be in constant danger? I’m ecstatic!”
“Good. I hope to make this the best vacation of your life,” he says softly, playing with a strand of my hair, twirling it around his finger.
“This is the only vacation of my life, so it wouldn’t matter what we did,” I state quietly. He stares at me with a look of confusion like everyone does when I tell them that I’ve never left the country. “I never had the time or the money,” I justify with my own shrug.
“When you have enough money, finding the time becomes irrelevant.” He waves his hand in dismissal and scowls a little at something across the room from us. I look over and see nothing.
“I guess so. I wouldn’t know, I suppose.”
“You certainly do now,” he says, pulling me closer and kissing the side of my face. “What’s mine is yours.”
“And what’s mine is mine,” I finish with a sly smile, making him drop his jaw in mock horror.
“You cheeky little…”
He tickles my ribs and causes me to bellow out an enormous laugh. I can’t seem to stop and my stomach starts to ache from my muscles contracting so much.
“Stop….enough….please,” I gasp, hardly being able to breathe.
“Then you must share with me!” He lets go of me and crosses his arms, turning his face away from me like a small child would, but I can see the small smile on his face and there is a twinkle in his eye.
