His large hand curls around mine and he bends to brush his lips across my fingers, lingering longer than absolutely necessary. His warm breath tickles my skin and I feel my face warm at his closeness and intense blue eyes staring at me with intensity. A crooked, yet sinister smile spreads across his face causing me to shift uncomfortably in my chair.
“Mm, you are a delicious woman Miss. Trudeau. Please tell me that you’re single.”
I pause only momentarily, knowing that I need to lie to him, but hoping that Damien won’t hate me for it. I don’t want this mission to be the end of our relationship and it certainly doesn’t help that he’s listening to every word.
“Yes, I am.” I bat my lashes and give another awkward giggle as I run my hand up his forearm. “I’ve never been much of a relationship kind of girl,” I add with a wink. It’s almost over the top kind of flirting, but it definitely seems to be working. His eyebrows shoot up and he coughs nervously. With one glance at his young face, I can tell that he’s probably used to doing all the chasing and isn’t used to a woman who openly flirts back.
“Well then, I guess that’s a good thing because I’m not looking for a girlfriend,” he says, slipping a finger inside his collar to loosen his shirt. Great, I have him on the run. Now I need some alone time in his office.
“I was wondering if you could do me a big favor?”
“Of course!” He stands up quickly, almost tripping over his own feet. “What can I do for you?”
I stand up out of the chair with as much grace as I can handle and allow his arm to automatically steady me by encircling my waist. I look up at him through my lashes, running my hand up his chest seductively. It feels surprisingly firm, but nowhere near as wonderful as Damien's.
“I was wondering if you would happen to have any painkillers and possibly a glass of water. You see, my leg is really starting to bother me and it would certainly help me a lot.” My lips spread into a small smile and I continue my assault on him by slipping my hand inside his open suit jacket to run my nails on his stomach. “A nice big glass if you don’t mind. I’m a very thirsty girl.”
“Y-Yes of course,” he stutters, pulling away from me and all too suddenly running from the room. His head pokes back in through the open door. “I’ll be right back!”
That certainly was a lot easier to get him out of here than I thought. Pulling the flash drive out of my pocket, I slide onto the large wooden desk and push it into the port on the side of the monitor with a satisfied grunt. I hear a voice in my ear again, taking me by surprise.
“That poor boy doesn’t stand a chance around you,” Damien purrs. I suppress a giggle and no sooner have I sat up on the desk, the office door opens and I see he’s back and is holding a tall glass of water, just like I asked.
“Here you go, my lady.” As he glances up, I try and cross my legs as best I can to look appealing. “Found somewhere more comfortable to sit?”
“I was admiring your desk, or your father’s that is. It’s very beautiful.” I say the keyword and imagine Damien tapping away on that laptop of his back in the vehicle. I’m almost done, I tell myself, knowing that I will be back in the car with him soon and hopefully in his bed very shortly after. My body aches for him, no matter what has been revealed in the past 24 hours, I still want him just as badly.
“The desk isn’t beautiful. It’s what’s sitting on top of it.” He places the glass down next to me, as well as the pills, and stares at me almost a little to intently.
“What, this picture?” I say with a teasing tone, picking up the framed photo. I see a picture of a toddler running across some luscious grass in just a diaper. “Is this you?”
