I Should Tell You

I was about to head home when I heard a loud bang and walked towards the sound. Expecting to see an angry athlete slamming his locker, my heart shattered when I saw a tall guy getting bullied.

"Back off, guys!" I warned.

"Sorry, Rebecca." They said as they ran off.

Being the sister of the school's badass had its perks sometimes, then I adjusted my glasses as I crouched by him and handed him his own pair that fell.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes, t-thank you."

"What was that about?"

"I'm a nerd, that's why."

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Marcel, yours?"

"Rebecca."

"Thank you."

"It's nothing, they're jerks anyway."

We ended up sitting there and talking, then quickly became friends. After months of being close friends with Marcel, I was able to see how great he is and also got to know the real him. Before I knew it, I started getting butterflies around him, but just didn't know how to tell him.

"Rebecca!"

I turned and smiled as I saw Marcel running up to me.

"Hey!"

"So my brother was telling me that it'd be a good idea for me to go ahead and tell you how I feel..."

"Are you saying that-"

"Yea, I like you...like...I like you a lot..."

"I like you too."

"So...tonight?"

"Y-Yeah."

"Rebecca, let's go!" My brother called.

"I gotta go...see you tonight, Marcel."

"So you're going out with that Marcel guy?" My brother asked.

"Yeah, is there a problem?"

"Nah, I don't see him as a threat. Have fun and call me if you need anything."

"I will. You know...for a badass, you have a real big soft spot."

"Only because you're my sister."

"Yeah, yeah. I'll see you later."

I hugged him before walking outside and finding Marcel standing there with new glasses, and curly hair that wasn't gelled down.

"Hey, Beautiful." He greeted

"Hi, Handsome."

We laughed before heading out to the movies. After the movie, he drove me home and before I went inside, he softly kissed me.
