Hey people! Before you read the next chapter, I have an announcement!

We've reached 5k!! *throws confetti*

And I say we because I couldn't have done this without you all, and your tremendous support! (Well, maybe I could, but I probably wouldn't have.)

I've had this this unexpectedly large statistic under my belt for maybe a week now, and I swear, I couldn't be happier about it! YAY!

Also, has anyone spotted the Wicked references? There have been a few already, and there are definitely more to come :3 I don't know how many of you are total Wicked nerds like me, if any, but I'm gonna keep making references about it anyway 8D (When I say Wicked, this is Gregory Maguire's book as well as the musical! That's right, you're looking at a hardcore Wicked nerd...in fact, I've already made a reference in this part XD)

One more thing! Want to see my reactions to new episodes (well, once V4 starts :P) and content, and get updates on how the writing's going? Check out the instagram page, wattpad_rwby_black_cat !

Cheers y'all!

Blake...was mad.

I mean, it wasn't like she had a better idea. But it was just so frustrating that she'd been pushed into this situation. When she'd left the White Fang, she'd intended never to go back. She'd intended to disappear. But there was no other option. Everywhere else, there were dead ends, and Raven knew where to find Adam, the one guy they knew who might have some information. Finding Leif was important - more important than her pride - but she still didn't like seeing her pride wounded.

And if she had to talk to Adam? What was she meant to say!? Hi. Sorry for abandoning you after you turned into a total monster. Want some tea?

There wasn't much she wouldn't give right now to find a pillow and just scream into it. And it appeared that she, Weiss and train girl had this in common. Because those two loved the idea of visiting their sworn enemies and teaming up to find someone they a) hadn't seen for years, or b) hadn't even met. (Wait, you mean that's not how you spend your weekend?) The only reason Weiss had agreed to this was because it could have been Blake that disappeared in Leif's place - though she wasn't exactly keen to meet the man who was probably responsible for multiple family members going missing, being murdered.

Even Raven, who came up with the plan, didn't seem keen to see Adam again. She said she'd seen him and Leif recently, but it hadn't been something she'd been looking forward to or anything - it was Leif's idea. It was only really Ruby and Yang who didn't resent this guy - but he was the White Fang's leader, and they had been working with Roman Torchwick, so some level of animosity was already there by default.

Besides, Adam's mental condition was...interesting. Sometimes he was pretty insane. In a bad way. But he had periods - days, weeks - of clarity. Still an extremist/terrorist, but he thought clearly, and was less inclined to be, in the nicest way possible, a sadistic bastard. Raven had suggested that he tended to be more stable with people he knew before he got super violent. Blake guessed Raven, Glynda and Neo all fell into that category, but Blake had no idea where she fitted.

But as they made their way towards the White Fang stronghold, Blake realised she - unlike the rest of them - wasn't mad at Adam. She was mad because she had to see him again. But when she thought of him, she was...confused. She didn't know whether she was going to meet an old friend, or an enemy. This guy had been someone she'd trusted, once. Then he'd changed - slowly, but so drastically that Blake had hardly recognised him. Sometimes, she wanted the old Adam back. The one who just wanted equality, and wanted to be treated right - the one who wasn't violent, hating on humans as a species. Her mentor. Her friend.
