(Victoria's POV)
So Chase asked me to go to lunch with him. I haven't told my dad or anyone else, and on top of that, I have no idea what to wear. This calls for a professional. Three professionals actually.
"Jarvis call in the girls. Tell them to come to my room and that it's an emergency." I command.
"Done Mrs. Rogers." He replies. A few moments later the girls came bursting through the door. Ava green, Ariel with her bow, and Zoe in her armor ready to blast somebody.
"Whoa, whoa. Calm down. Not that type of emergency. This is what Zoe told me would be called a code three, I think." I say trying to calm them down.
"Girls, this calls for Operation Red." Zoe announces.
"Um.. You only have an hour. Wait, what's Operation Red?' I asked nervously.
"Just come with us. We'll get you ready in no time." Ariel insisted. I went with them and we ended up in Ariel's room.
"Okay, Ava you got hair. Zoe clothes. And I got the make up." Ariel commanded. And within an hour I looked like I was going on a real date, even though it was just lunch. I was wearing a red, strapless dress that goes to my lower calves in the back and my knees in the front. Then I have white wedge shoes and my hair is curled and reaches the middle of my back. I protested, but I have eyeliner and a smokey eye look, I think that's what Ariel called it, and pink lipstick. I must say, I am impressed.
"You guys are miracle workers!" I exclaimed after looking at myself in the mirror.
"Oh my god, get going Cinderella your going to be late!" Ava yelled. I laughed and ran out the door, well as best as I could in these heels. I can't run in heels, I can barely walk in them. I got to the elevator and saw Chase. He was wearing a really nice pair of jeans and really nice dress shirt with a black leather jacket, and dress shoes.
As I approach him he just stares at me like I am the most beautiful thing in the world, or the most ugly thing. Hopefully the first one.
"Hi." I say breaking the silence.
"Oh- Hi." He blushes realizing that he was caught staring. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you. I was afraid that it would be to formal." I say shyly. Every time I get around a guy that I like I shy away. It's like my minds way of telling me that I like him.
"No, it's perfect. We should get going." He smiles holding his arm out. I take his arm and we walk into the elevator. We get into the car that Happy, Tony's driver and, even though he doesn't like to admit it, bodyguard, is driving. Chase whispered to Happy were to go and we were off.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"It's a surprise." I smirks.
"You know, I've known you for a day and I already know that you are a lot like your father." I joke.
"Speaking of father's. How's everything going with you and Steve?" He asks.
"Great. He's a really nice dad. I wish I would've known him before, you know." I look down.
"Sorry."
"No, it's fine."
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened exactly?" I was afraid of this. He's gonna think I'm weak and can't handle myself under pressure. But I have to tell him. He wants to know.
"My mom used to abuse me and when she had another baby, not Steve's baby, I would take all of the beatings for him. I wanted him to be healthy and not have to be in the ER every other week. Then one day I couldn't handle it anymore so I found the tallest bridge in the town and I jumped. But I didn't die. Obviously." I looked down at my hands and then I felt a warm pair of arm wrap around me.
I hugged him back and we stayed like this for a few minutes. Then Happy said that we were where ever Chase was taking me. When I stepped out of the car I saw that we were in Central Park. Then Chase led me to a table that had food and I was hungry. There wasn't that many people here. A couple of kite flyers and a few picnickers. But no one was within fifty feet of us. This was nice. Kinda like a date. But he said that it wasn't. God Victoria, just admit that you want to go out with him. My conscious self yelled.
"I hope you like it." Chase spoke up after what seemed like an eternity of silence.
"It's beautiful." I smiled.
"Yes you are." Chase said, then realized what he had said and blushed. We ate and talked for hours. It felt nice to talk to someone who was so easy to talk to. He listened and when he talked I listened back. He would talk about the missions that his parents would take him on, and how his parents fell in love on a mission. He was totally worth listening to. It was now 3:00 and we were walking through the park. I was so happy. I never wanted this to end.
(Chase's POV)
Tori is beautiful, and she is so easy to talk to. Sometimes it sucks being the only guy out of the kids. But there is always one person I can go to when I need help. Tony.
"We should be getting back. They're gonna be wondering where we disappeared to and my dad would be mad to find out that the second day I'm here, I'm running around New York. Well, at least I'm not alone." She smirks. She's a lot like her dad, but I can tell that the girls, especially my sister, is rubbing off on her.
"You're right. We've been gone for four hours. Let's go." I agree and we go back to he car where Happy is waiting to take up back to the tower. When we get to the tower we go our separate ways and I instantly go to the lab to see Tony.
"Tony? I need help."
