As I awake with a jump, gasping for life from a restless dream, I realize a comfortable, smooth, and firm hand is clutching onto my own. Whipping my head forcefully to the side, I automatically crouch into a defensive pose, ready to wield my clenched fist square in the suspect's jaw. This is where the countless hours and buckets of sweat from army training clearly pay off. The suspect seems dazed with wide brown eyes. He is an average height with a strong build and bronze hair, I note. I determine he isn't a threat as of now, and resume with a normal stance, covering my emotions. The male shuffles between his feet and slightly softens his rigid appearance.
"Hello. I wanted to see how you were holding up. I'm glad to see you're alive. You survived quite the large blow on the war grounds." Brown Eyes states coldly.
"Do I know you? Where, when, how, and why am I here?" I question strictly. I desperately need to calculate my location, so I can contact my task force.
"Oh! Of course! I'm sorry. No, you wouldn't know me, but I know you. I'm Webster, member of the enemy force. You, dear Carter, have been captured by the Trilconven." he seers. Keeping a straight as possible composure, I begin to break down. The Trilconven were a huge empire that dominated the entire Southern Hemisphere. They were the enemy force we were at war with. Our squad was on an important mission trying to take them down, and I, Carter Grey, was now their prisoner. A filthy life composed of torture, poisoning, and deadly tests will become my future. Racking my brain for a logical escape, a loan idea slithers to the surface from the depths of my mind. My head throbs and my palms feel clammy. My eyes burn and my nostrils flare. The room spins and I set my feet in motion. Time stops as I slit the IV bag, my only life-line, and wait for the oxygen to enter my bloodstream. Safe at last, I think as the darkness, once again, consumes me.
