The tears had tried. My heartbeat was slow. I am numb. Deciding to finally stand up, I emerge from the pit of my sorrow, and trudge back the way I came, not wanting to become further lost in the enormous Trilconven labyrinth. Finally, after seemingly ages, I reach the broken steel door, and peer inside the holed wall. There stood 3 Trilconven guards, all stone faced, with loaded guns aimed at my weak stance. Not being able to carry my burden any longer, I relax my head back, close my eyes, and wait for the painful spears of death to penetrate my body, but they never arrive. When I slowly peek one eye open, the sight fills me with wonder. A gracefully churning silver field surrounds my body like soft flowing water. The 3 dumbfounded guards stare with mouths wide, taking in the incredible scene unfold before us.They lower their guns, and stumble back. The field drops, and I am, once again, left vulnerable. The shield had evaporated the piercing bullets in thin air. All of a sudden, a sweaty and breathless Webster stumbles into the room, almost tripping over himself in the process.

"It's Boss. He's coming for you, Carter!" he sputters while panting for more oxygen. "He's knows what you are. You have to get out of here!" he continues. Thoughts whiz through my brain causing my head to thump wildly. I grip the wall for balance and gain little support.

"How much time do I have?" I manage to choke out.

"I don't know. 30 minutes, maybe. Boss is already halfway here, and he's moving fast down hallway 52C." Webster instructs, beginning to usher me out of the room. I make it 5 paces until I am ordered with commands to stop on both ends of the hall. I am handcuffed and thrown to the stone ground along with Webster and the other guards who failed their duty with my capture, I presume.

"30 minutes, eh?" I lean into Webster as we are shoved down the vast hall, our destination unknown.
