Chapter Eight
At the cabin there's a stash of random clothes that we put on. Once I was in my human form I made it pretty clear that nothing had changed between us. I was still Hazel Woods and he was still an arrogant jerk. He still made me hold hands with him until we reached the pack house.
"Mom, how's Cody?" I whispered into her ear as she ran to hug me.
"He's fine. His feelings were a little hurt at first but he's alright now. He's at the house, you can see him later." She whispers back.
My dad comes up to me and hugs me tight. "I'm so glad you're okay." He whispers into my ear like my mom did.
"Um, Mom, dad, this is Ryan Greensworth." I say, even though they've already met him it's proper to introduce him as my mate. "My, um, uh, m-mate." I say, but it's more of a question. Everything happened so fast and I still can't put two and two together.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Woods." Ryan shakes my fathers' hand and kisses my mothers' hand.
"You know son, I thought when you found your mate it would be on different circumstances. I can't say I'm not surprised, because I am very surprised. But I'm happy for you and my daughter. You better take good care of her."
I almost laughed. Take good care of me? He won't have to take care of me at all! I'm moving in with grandma just like my mom said.
"You know, I would love to finish this chat," I lied, "But I have to go finish a ten paged essay-front and back I might add- and I have to go apologize to Mr. and Mrs. Greensworth for slapping Ryan in the face."
I pulled my hand from Ryan's grip and left my parents and the wolves circling us behind and went inside the pack house in search of Mr. and Mrs. Greensworth.
"Hey, Hazel! I love what you did with your hair!" The red head smiles a toothy smile and bats her eyelashes as if she's this perfect angel. It's funny since my hair is all over my head.
"Yeah, the afro is really working for you!"
"I love that dress you were wearing earlier. But that pink tank top that's two sizes bigger than you and those mom jeans look cute too!"
"You're way prettier than your sister!"
I give the group of girls that we're calling me an ugly psycho earlier a smile.
"You guys are so fake it's cute!" I gush. I walk pass them with a new hip in my walk.
Everything happened so quick I didn't realize what I had just won.
Ryan Greensworth was my mate!
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.
I'm mates with the jerk that thought he was too good for me!
Wow, funny how life screws you over.
They can't possibly send their Luna to North Dakota!
My family is safe forever; they won't kick them out the pack.
I don't have to write a ten paged essay! Why would I write my mate a ten paged essay? Um, he's mine. And he scratched me on my arm so we're even. It was now a black scar across my hip.
I'm Luna Rose's daughter-in-law basically!
No one can make fun of me anymore, and I'll finally get the respect I deserve.
I get to live in the Pack house!
Looks like Ryan was wrong, I am his mate after all. We got married once when we were little and now we're mates. I look down at my ring finger; I expect to see the promise ring he gave me when we were younger but instead I find nothing but a layer of extra light skin where my ring used to be.
