Jakes' POV
As I walked through the park I watched the fluffy white flakes of snow fall from the clouded grey sky.
Every flake that touched my skin stung and melted almost instantly, only a few were bunched on my eyelashes.
I hadn't been up here in a while, and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
I noticed I figure sitting on the swings I knew Alli loved so much, and walking closer I realized it was indeed Alli.
Coming around from the side, she didn't seem to notice me, and I observed her slight figure.
She looked thin, but unhealthy. She wore a black skirt and black t shirt. Goosebumps covered her Baird arms and her limp brown curls hung heavy around her ashen face.
Her bare legs looked wet from the melted snow, and trickles of water ran down the cold surfae of her skin. Grey flats lay in the snow next to her, but they wouldn't have kept her delicate pale feet warm anyway. Her toes skimmed the snow, and that's when I noticed she wasn't soaring high like she always did. Instead she sat, her hands wrapped around the chains of the swing so tight her knuckles had turned white.
Her head leaned against her hand, and when I stepped forward she looked up. No smile accompanied the recognition she had for me, instead I noticed a tear roll down her cheeck, and her eyelids fluttered as if she was tired. Dark circles lay under her dull eyes and I took my jacket off and handed it to her.
I sat on the swing next to her and held on to her freezing hand. Shivering slightly in my long sleeved shirt we sat for a while both not saying a word. I had a feeling that words could not express the delicate state she was in at the moment, and I let her cry silently, our linked hands showing my compassion towards her.
Eventually, with the tears still rolling down her face, she stood and went to take off the jacket. But I stopped her and looked into her bloodshot eyes.
I pulled it back on her and led her like a lost puppy back to my house.
Once inside, I set her on the couch and turned on the fireplace. Dashing upstairs I grabbed her some new clothes an handed them to her.
She stood up, and numbly started pulling off her drenched clothes. I turned around politely waiting for her to finish.
When I turned back around she was almost asleep on the couch, my t shirt hung from her thin figure, and her bare legs curled up under her. The sweatpants I offered her lay in a heap on the floor.
Pulling a blanket over the sleeping girl, I called her house, when her dad answered I assured him she was ok, then resumed my position in a chair next to her sleeping form.
Slowly I drifted off. The only thought buzzing through my mind before I fell asleep was; how can such a beautiful girl, look so tormented.
Alli's POV
I woke up confused, and sad. Just like I had ever morning since the day my mom had passed away. I hated myself for living while she roamed this earth no more. I wanted nothing more than for her to take my place in this awful world, so she could continue on, a healthy, young person, instead if an old dying one.
I didn't yell anymore at the earth, I didn't scream at the sky. I did however go outside in the middle of the night and let the tears run down my face. I kept it together for my family during the day, but then again I had to. Sam was so fragile, and I hoped this wouldn't ruin her, and twist her mind like it had mine.
Looking around, I remembered Jake's sudden kindness towards me and sat up. Realizing I was only in an oversized t shirt of his, I shrugged and pulled on the grey sweatpants on the floor.
I had lost weight, too much wieght, and the pants didnt stay up. But I bunched them up and climbed onto Jake's lap and curled up in a tiny ball.
I listened to his beating heart and felt him stroke my hair when he woke up.
Soon I fell back asleep, and the dreams came.
~~~~ DREAM ~~~~
I walked through a thick forest. The tall black trees blocked the light from the clouded sky, although I couldn't tell if it was the sun or moon being blocked from the leafy black canopy.
I saw faces poking out from behind trees, and then quickly popping back behind them. Their high pitched giggles echoed through the trees in an eerie way. I shivered and continued on. I ran and kept looking from side to side. Getting dizzy but continuing on the echoing laughter was louder.
All of a sudden a bunch of girls in green dresses started to run with me. They kept looking at me and smiling and laughing. Every time their pink lips opened I saw menacingly sharp teeth.
Branches seemed to whip out at me, as if trying to capture me. And they ended up doing just that. Being pulled sharply back, I hit the trunk of a tree with a surprisingly forceful thump on the head. One of the girls walked forward as the rest continued on running. She leaned in and laughed in my face. It echoed loudly and I felt hot tears roll down my face before waking up and noticing I actually was crying.
