Chapter #21

Alli's POV

"Jake, wake up," I said gently shaking his arm.

"don't leave..." he mumbled still asleep. Half way through the movie I noticed Jake had fallen asleep and let him rest, but the movie had ended and almost everyone had left the theatre.

"I won't Jake, but we have to go," I said smiling at his messy hair.

He opened his eyes and looked a little disoriented.

"Jake, were you dreaming about Alli ?" Lillie teased.

He looked almost scared for a moment, but I dismissed that thought as he smiled at me.

"maybe," he replied. I stood taking his hand in mine, and felt the almost familiar tingled in my fingers warm my cold body.

"are you cold," Jake asked looking concerned.

"a little," I admit.

He took off his sweater, revealing a plain white t-shirt, and draped it over my shoulders. Sliding my arms in I zipped it half way up and spread my arms out as the sleeves hung down, much too large for me.

Smiling, Jake gently rolled the sleeve up a bit for me and took my hand again.

Walking out of the building, I noticed the sun was setting. Still high enough in the sky for us to walk home, the bright yellow of the sun started to fade into a rich orange.

We took the long way back home, through the forest. The dark shadows pooled under the green leaves where other leaves shone with the last rays of sunshine.

We walked in a comfortable silence and I smiled to myself. Despite every horrible thing that happened, there was finally a beautiful moment I could enjoy.

Jake's POV

This was perfect, I thought. Maybe everything could be normal and we could be a couple and I could bring back happiness to Alli's life. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Alli smile as we walked on through the forest.

All of a sudden I heard a rumble in the sky. Both of us looking up, we saw dark clouds cover up the dipping sun, and cold rain drops fell on our heads. Alli laughed as the rain poured down on us and the trees around us. I laughed with her and we ran to a little half covered ditch and sat there, waiting for the rain to stop.

She huddled into me, and I wrapped my arms around her small, cold body.

When the rain finally stopped, the sun was almost gone, and we walked out into a flowery field.

The last rays of sun seemed to be captured in Alli's hair and eyes. She turned to me and held out her hand. I was about to take it in mine when I noticed a golden liquid in her cupped palm.

Looking into her eyes I saw the amazement I felt reflected on her face.

"look Jake," she said in awe.

"I see it," I said "what is it?"

"sunlight," she said as our eyes met. She reached her hand out into the disappearing rays of light and made as if to grab them. But she did, the light shone through the gaps in her fingers.

"how..." I trailed off.

"I don't know," she said looking down at the liquid light in her hands and poured them from one hand to the other.

"hold out your hand," she said nodding at my hands.

I did as she said and cupped my hands together. She collected the light in both hands, and I watched as

she let it pour like a waterfall of nectar into my hands. As it slowly pooled in my hands I felt a warmth come over me and Alli laughed as my hair stood on end with electrical charges that ran from the light through my body.

But as the sun finally dipped below the horizon the light in my hands slowly faded into a sparkling silver.

"The moon," Alli breathed in amazement as she looked at the full moon above us.

"what do we do with it ?" I asked.

"I don't know..." she said thoughtfully as a silver drop fell to the flowers below and glowed a bright silver.

She glanced at me, ad dipped her finger in the thick liquid, she let it drip on all the flowers around us.

slowly all the flowers that were touched by the liquid moon light glowed with a bright silver aura. Little drops of silver floated through the silver shine and the flowers grew.

At first only a little bit, but soon beautiful vines were flowing around us and the delicate flowers were almost as tall as Alli.

I sprinkled more on other flowers and Alli duped her hand in the liquid and did the same. Soon we were surrounded by a forest of flowers glowing in a silver mist.

"I wonder what will happen when the sun rises," Alli sai as we sat beneath a giant vine that continued to writhing and grow.

"yea..." I said, still amazed at what had happened.

Alli's POV

What we had just experienced was amazing, it seemed as though Jake liked what the moon light had done, but secretly I loved the way the sun light had warmed me, the way it shone in swirls in the palm of my hand.

Standin up, and brushing myself off Jake said, "we can't just leave it like this,"

"your right," I said "but let's came back tomorrow and see what we can do."

He nodded and stood with me.

We quickly walked back to my house, standing on the doorstep I turned to look at him.

"bye Jake," I whispered in his ear as we hugged.

he kissed my cheek and I walked inside.

Just before I closed the door, I heard him whisper "bye Alli,"
