CHAPTER 1

You- 8  Joon-8

You were happily playing with the flowers at your front yard when you noticed a truck parking at the house beside yours. People got stuff from the truck and brought it in the house.

‘New neighbors?’ You tilted your head to the side.

Then you saw a little boy running around. You laughed a bit because he scared a worker.

“Lee Joon! You better not be bothering the workers!” his mom yelled.

“Ne.” Joon sighed and rolled his eyes. He then looked at you, you quickly looked away and started playing with the flowers. Joon smiled and ran to you.

“Hi I’m Joon.” Joon smiled at you.

You looked up at him, “I’m Seul Gi.”

“Me and my family are moving here.” He sat down beside you.

“Where’d you come from?” You looked at him.

“America.”

“Really?” Your eyes widened, “is it nice there? Does their food taste good?”

“They have lots of Amusement parks,” Joon nodded, “they also have yummy food! Like this one,” he brought out two rainbow lollipops and gave one to you.

“What’s this?” You looked at the colorful candy.

“It looks like an ordinary rainbow lollipop doesn’t it?” Joon looked at his, “But it changes color after licking it.”

“Cool!” You smiled, “Can we open it?”

“Okay.” Joon smiled. The two of you ate your lollipops while talking about your favorite cartoons.

“Hey look! Mine turned blue!” You pointed at your lollipop and smiled.

“Ew mine turned green!” Joon made a face.

“It looks like puke!” You laughed.

“Yeah it does! Yuck!” Joon laughed with you.

“LEE JOON!” Joon’s mom yelled.

“Uh-oh,” You pouted, “I think you need to go.”

“Oh well,” Joon sighed and stood up, “see you at school tomorrow!”

“Okay!” You waved goodbye as he ran to his house.

The next day at school Joon came and he was formally introduced to the class. During classes you and Joon would pass notes and laugh about his drawings. At recess you two would eat together, in short you two were inseparable.

“Goodbye and thank you Mrs. Kim.” Everyone greeted the teacher at the end of the day.

“Finally!” Joon packed his stuff and went to you, “You ready?”

“Oh yeah.” You got your bag and followed him out the door.

The two of you were happily talking when someone pushed you, causing you to fall forward.

“Seul Gi-ah!” Joon helped you up.

“Aw did that hurt?” Du Jun smirked and his friends laughed.

“Are you okay?” Joon looked at you.

You nodded and rubbed your scraped knee. You looked at your hands, “Oh no.” you saw blood.

Joon curled his hand into a fist and looked at Du Jun, “You made her bleed!”

“Aw, jealous that you didn’t fall on the ground?” Du Jun looked at Joon.

Joon lost control and punched Du Jun hard on the face. Du Jun fell to the side with a bleeding nose.

“Don’t ever, ever, hurt my friend!” Joon glared at Du Jun before taking you away. You couldn’t walk that fast because of your wound. Joon noticed how slow you were and looked at you.

“Do you want me to carry you?”

You nodded.

Joon bent down, you got on his back and locked your hands around his neck. Joon wrapped his arms around your legs and stood up.

“You’re heavy.” Joon started walking.

You giggled, “Am not!”

Joon snickered, “Who was the guy back there?”

You let out a deep sigh, “Du Jun.”

“Why did he push you?”

“He likes pushing people,” You pouted, “especially me.”

“Why you?”

“I don’t know,” you rested your chin on Joon’s shoulder, “thanks Joon for helping me.”

“No prob,” Joon smiled, “oh yeah, from this day on, you can call me oppa.”

“Jeongmal?(Really?),” You smiled, “But aren’t we the same age?”

“I’m older by a month,” Joon stated, “and besides, only you get to call me oppa.”

“Why only me?”

“Because you’re the only one I know and I only want you to call me oppa,” Joon smiled, “from this day on till forever.”

“You mean we’ll be friends forever?” Your eyes sparkled.

“You don’t want too?” Joon smirked.

“I want to!” You tightened your grip around his neck.

“Ack! You’re choking me!” Joon pretend to choke.

You laughed at him.
