I walked out onto the balcony. The moon was bright and it shone like I'd never seen it. Something had willed me out here. The wind rustled my white night gown and I had chills run up my spine. I stepped onto the guard rail of the balcony and stood on the edge.

I looked down to the forbidding ground below. The fall would be certain death.

But I felt that I could fly, that I could fly up into the moon and see my parents.

Thinking of my parents sent tears to my eyes.

My parents.

Suddenly, my mother was in front of me! I stared at her, wide eyed.

"M-Mum?" The tears rolled down my cheeks.

Her expression was serious.

"Elvira! You must leave this place! You must run from Hazel's clutches!"

"What? Why?"

"She's demonic!' My mother tried to convince me further.

"How so?"

"She killed her own daughter, and many more. Every servant at the house is dead, Elvira! They're ghosts, spirits, apparitions! Whatever you want to call them"

"Who was her daughter?"

"Clara was"

"No, her mother's name was.." I thought for a minute and suddenly it came to me clearly. "Hana Alice-Zay Ellen Lase "

"Don't you see it?"

"See what?'

"The initials of every name"

"her mothers?" My mother nodded her pale head.

I thought for a second"

"H….A….Z….E….L" I gasped.

"It's true.."

"Please, my darling. You must flee!'

"But..I'm in love.."

"Elvira darling.." My mother embraced me, her cold body cooled me down.

"He only ever says anything to you under her orders"

"No!" I pushed my mother away, refusing to believe Jay didn't actually like me.

"You're lying!"

"Why would I lie to you, my sweet?" She looked sad, the kind of sad that would usually leave me feeling very guilty.

"N-no...Y-yes?..I don't know! Maybe?!" I screamed at her.

I had no idea why I was being so violent, and in my head I wanted to stop and hug her, but my mouth and body had a mind of their own.

"You just don't want me to be happy!"

"Elvira, that's all I ever want for you.."

More tears poured down my cheeks.

Leave? When everything was nice? When everything started to feel normal?

"You're dead"

"No, I'm still alive in your heart, Elvira."

"Oh.."

"I'm sorry you found your father and I dead like that" It was my mother's turn to cry this time.

"Who killed you mum!?" I screamed. "Who!?"

"Your Aunt Hazel" She spat. "She killed us both just so she could have you, the heir"

"The heir?"

She nodded.

"She wants you to be her successor!"

"What's her job?"

My mother spoke, but no words came out, she started to fade and I screamed.

"Mum, no! Come back to me!" She started to spiral back, like she was being sucked into a black hole.

"Leave….Elvira….Flee!....Darling….! I Love ….." Then everything went quiet and I fell forward.

Tears in my eyes made my vision blurry, but I could see the approaching ground.

Closer, and closer, and closer.

I braced myself for impact. BAM!

I sat up quickly in bed, sweat pouring down my face.

"It...was a dream" I gasped, breathing heavily.

"But...what mum said...is it….true?" I looked up to find Jay walking in, the usual breakfast on a tray.

"Good morning Elvira" He smiled before setting the tray down and walking out.

"He's just another puppet...like Chimera...minus the strings."
