Tony turned over, he wasn't able to sleep. It had been two months since Loki had been captured. He thought about how Loki was doing, and hoped that their child was okay. He thought about the knockoff tesseract that he and everyone had made. It was almost finished. A few things needed some adjustments, and then Loki could be saved. Thor said that he would text Tony if anything drastic had happened. So far, nothing.
Tony pulled up the covers to his torso. The bed felt so empty, and so cold. He didn't like this. Tony wished that Loki was here, and that he was okay. Tony was supposed to keep his husband safe, he felt like shit for letting this happen.
Tony buried his face into Loki's pillow, and sobbed. He shook uncontrollably. Tony couldn't stop himself, as his breath quickened. Tony couldn't do this by himself. He knew he was having an anxiety attack, and Loki was not here to calm him. Loki would've held him close, kissing him, and told him everything was okay.
Tony's phone buzzed, as it sat untouched on the wooden nightstand. Tony turned over with Loki's pillow in hand, and reached for his phone.
His heart dropped, as he read the message from Thor. They have taken him. I think it is time you come to save him. I am trying my best, but cannot do anything. Gather few of the Avengers, this is a job for a small group. They're going to kill him in 3 hours.
That last sentence killed Tony. Tony's breath quickened once more, and tears poured down his cheeks. He texted Thor back as quickly as he could. Okay. Getting ready now.
Tony ran out of bed, and quietly sprinted to the elevator, and to Steve and Bucky's floor. He ran into their bedroom sobbing, and dropped to his knees.
"S-Steve, B-Bucky!" Tony sobbed.
Steve and Bucky both sat up, before running to Tony's side.
"Tony, what happened?" Steve asked his friend.
"They're going to k-kill Loki i-in three hours!" Tony sobbed.
Steve and Bucky's eyes widened. They calmed Tony down as quickly as they could, and then they were off to get ready.
••••
"Steve, Bucky," Tony ordered. "Go get ready, gather any supplies you think we'll need. I'm going to finish the tesseract-portal then I'm going to go suit up."
Steve and Bucky nodded, as they retrieved to gather anything they needed for this mission.
••••
Tony had suited up in his metal suit, and Steve and Bucky had walked in right on time. Steve held his shield on his back. Bucky carried guns large and small all over his body.
"Alright Tony," Steve said. "Fire it up!"
Tony pulled the switch, and colors of blue energies and light had begun to gather in a large circle across the room. The three men stood in front of the portal. Steve and Bucky gazed in amazement at the swirls of all sorts of blues.
"Okay, so we are going to need someone to open the portal when we come back." Tony said, glancing back at the tesseract.
"Who's going to do that?" Steve asked.
"I am." A voice spoke. Steve and Bucky turned towards the voice. Natasha sat behind a large computer.
"I told Natasha that she could have the job of helping us without actually coming along." Tony said.
"Hey, missions get tiring after a while." Natasha shrugged.
"We better go." Tony said. He turned back to the portal.
"Nat, I'll call you if something goes wrong." Tony sighed.
Natasha nodded. "Good luck, guys."

Loki shivered in the cold, damp cell. There was very little light, most of the cell was consumed by darkness.
Loki jumped slightly, as he heard a door creak open. Light poured down the hallway, and casted shadows on the walls. He could see Thor's shadow, but another shadow fell behind his. Loki felt all hope leave him, as he frowned.
"Thor!" Loki cried out. He leaned against the iron bars of the cell door.
Thor hung his head lowly and shamefully. He had iron cuffs on his wrists. Thor glanced at Loki, as he and a guard walked by.
He smiled. "Be strong." Thor mouthed.
The guard opened the cell door next to Loki's. Loki could hear Thor's body being thrown into the cell, and then followed by the iron bars slamming shut, and being locked.
"Thor!" Loki cried. Tears ran down his face.
"I'm okay, Loki." Thor spoke calmly.
Loki leaned against the stone wall. He had no hope. He had given up. He placed his hands on his stomach.
"This is the end," he thought. "Of you and I."
He shut his eyes tightly, as more tears fell down his cheeks.
Odin stood in front of Loki's cell. A silhouette was all of Odin that could be seen through the darkness.
"Are you ready to except your fate?" He asked hoarsely.
Loki nodded in darkness, chewing his bottom lip. "Yes." He spoke, as he realized Odin could not see him well.
In the cell next to Loki, Thor tensed in fear. "Loki! No!"
"The decision has been made." Odin spoke. "You have exactly five minutes to live."
"NO," Thor screamed. "Loki you must change your mind! We are going to be saved--"
"We are not going to be saved!" Loki spat. "There's no hope, so we might as well give up all hope." Loki closed his eyes.
"My friends!" Thor stood up. "You have co-" Thor was immediately shushed by someone.
Loki kept his eyes closed, but opened them when he heard a familiar voice.
"Pssst..... Sunshine." Loki heard Tony's voice.
Loki's eyes abruptly opened. "Tony?!"
The small blue light from Tony's chest shone across his face. He had a smile on his face, and Loki could tell he was crying.
"It's me." He whispered happily. Loki heard a small clank from his ironman suit.
Tony opened the door, and he ran into the cell at Loki's side. Loki and Tony hugged tightly.
"Tony," Loki sobbed. "I missed you so."
"I missed you too, baby." Tony held Loki close.
Tony pulled away from Loki, and examined his body. "Are you and squirt okay?" Tony asked worriedly.
"Just a bit chilly." Loki shuddered.
"Steve, Bucky, come here." Tony whispered. Steve and Bucky ran into the cell with Thor behind them.
Bucky threw a blanket at Tony, and Tony caught it and wrapped it around Loki.
"Cmon guys," Tony whispered, as he picked up Loki. "Let's go home."
