"So, Marcel. Where are you from?"
"What do you mean?" he replied looking at his lap. It seemed way more important than our conversation.
"I mean, um did you come from a different state or country or-"
"Oh I uh came from Oregon." he said slowly. I nodded my head, tapping my fingers on my lap.
"Oh cool. It's beautiful there. I bet it rains a lot."
"Yeah." he said still refusing to look at me. What do you talk about with someone who's so awkward?
We had just gotten done eating dinner with my mom along with his. Anne wanted to see the house, saying it would only take a minute. A minute turned to an hour and now were sitting in my room, while silence crept its way in.
I was looking at my hand when I turned my attention back to Marcel. He was starring right at me. Well he was, till I caught him. I saw bits of redness spread across his cheeks.
"Marcel am I making you uncomfortable?" I asked. It seemed as if I was. Marcel looked like the kind of kid that people didn't get a long with to well. When I mean people I mean people like Taylor and Rider. Im usually the peace maker. I don't like seeing kids being picked on for being so shy or even smart. Good grades get you somewhere.
"No. Im sorry if I'm being weird. I'm not used to talking to such a pretty girl." His eyes met mines and that's when I noticed they were green. A beautiful emerald glossy green. My heart skipped a beat.
"Awe, well thank you. I don't want you to feel weird around me though." I said while smiling at him. He gave me a small smile back showing off his deep dimples.
"Were friends. Im pretty sure friends can act themselfs around eachother right?"
He nodded his head chuckling a little.
"Right."
"Marcel? Are you up there?" I heard Anne call.
"Yeah mom I'm coming." I got up from my spot as we both made our way downstairs.
"It was so nice to meet you guys. " My mom said with sympathy. I smiled at Anne then to Marcel who was looking at the ground. I felt a bit bad. It's tough being the 'new' kid. Espically at Dilbridge High. I know Rider was going to give him a tough time being there.
"I like them." my mom said once she closed the door. I nodded my head agreeing.
"Anne's a sweet lady. It's just her and Marcel, You know?"
"Really?" I asked shocked. Marcel hadn't mention that. Then again he didnt even want to talk to me.
"Yeah. Marcel didn't tell you?"
"He doesn't like me." Me and my mom walked to the living room throwing ourselfs on the couch.
"That's not true honey. I'm sure he just needs to get used to you being around. Anne did tell me he had a little trouble at his last school."
"I know. Funny of you to say that. I'm actually a little bit worried about how his experience will be tomorrow."
My mom looked into my eyes not showing any emotion. Here it comes .
"Georgia. Promise me-"
"Mom.."
"Georgia Noelle Rose. You promise me you will be nice to that kid."
I sighed loudly rolling my eyes. She always did this. Shed make me promise her something. She knew me so well. I hated breaking promises to people because I don't want to be the cause of there suicidal or depression.
"Mom I can promise you with my soul I will. But I can't talk for everyone else."
"Thats why you try. You try to make those kids see something in him." she kissed the top of my forhead before she stood up.
"Goodnight Georgia."
I gave her a small smile.
"Goodnight."
