We made it to Austin late that night. We checkered into a run down motel on the outskirts of the city. Kane had known the owner and allowed us to stay in the nicest room they had. Luckily there was two beds. We got in and Kane had some pajamas from my house, a little disturbing.
"I went to your house before I came for you," he said. I slipped them on in the bathroom and got into the bed. Kane got into his and we went off to sleep.

The doctor was above me writing things down on a clipboard. "Ah, you're awake. Everything is just fine," he said. "You were just a little sick, but we have some medicine for you." He pulled out a bottle of pills from his coat pocket. "Take one of these everyday, no matter what."
"Do I have to stay here longer?"
"No you don't, you get to go home." He left the room and another man stepped in. He was tall and had dark skin.
"Don't worry worry Emma," he said with a thick Jamaican accent. He placed his hand on my forehead and I saw a whole other life flash before my eyes.
I lived in a simple house in Portland, my family was happy and loved each other. I had two older sister and two older brothers. I had always felt out of place in my family, but my mom cherished me. My dad would ignored me most times though. My siblings knew something was wrong with me, but thought that is was because I was the littlest.
It all changed when a man came to my house. He rang on our doorbell, I answered. He gave me a hug and said he was my uncle. I let him in, being the little girl I was. He waited until my whole family came home, the last people being my mom and dad. The two of them knew who he was and made me a my siblings hide. There was loud yelling and then loud footsteps coming upstairs to the bedrooms were my siblings were hiding.
He went to my sisters' room first them screamed for a half second before there was a loud slash sound. My brothers left their room and went screaming downstairs. Glass broke and a loud swoosh. The screaming stopped.
I got out of my parent's closet slowly and saw him standing on top of the stairs, covered in my sibling's blood.
"What are you doing?" I asked, my voice wavering. He turned around and his face was beaming. He carefully walk towards me and knelt down to my height.
"Are you Emma?" He asked with a soft voice. I nodded, paralyzed with fear. I heard a bunch of cars outside of my house. The man kissed my forehead. He looked straight into my eyes. "I wish that I could've raised you." With that he disappeared.
People burst into my house and came up to me. A man dressed in a suit with horn rimed glasses came up to me and kneeled.
"It's okay Emma, you are safe now," he said the me. He reached behind him and grabbed a needle. He grabbed my hand and put it through my wrist. The rest was dark.

I woke up in cold sweat, tears, and screams. I checked myself for my siblings blood that wasn't there. Kane rushed to my side, hugging me tightly. He was warm and soft.
"Shh, calm down, it wasn't real," he said smoothing my hair.
"It was real Kane, it was all real," I said, tears falling down my cheeks. I put my face into his shoulder. He winced in pain, but held it back.
"There was a reason why they had to do it Emma, to protect you. To protect the wellbeing of everyone." His voice was so soothing.
"Who was that man? The man that murdered my siblings?" I was scared that the man would walk through the door and kill me.
"It was your real dad. Your mom had an affair with another man, that man, while she was married. She got pregnant with you and left your real dad," he said letting go of me,  still holding onto my arms. "They call you sylar-syndrome two because you were the only other case they had found with the same power your birth father."
"But why did he murder my siblings?!"
"He was a serial killer and when he found out that you were born, well, he was angry." Kane kissed my forehead.
"How long have you been working for that company?" I asked looking at him with a whole new view.
"I was practically raised by the company to be part of the bagging and tagging team. After the business went down I went to go find you to try and give you more of the pills and I failed." He looked down in shame. I grabbed his chin and lifted it.
"You didn't fail at anything Kane, I think you did better," I said and kissed him. The lingered for a little until he was ready to talk again.
"Those pills blocked your pow-" I stopped him by putting my finger on his lips.
"Did you hear that?" There was walking of feet, all in sync. "It's them, those guys from earlier, we have to go, now." grabbed my clothes from the bathroom and put them into the backpack. Kane looked like he was preparing himself to face them. I, on the other hand, ready to face danger all the time.
We walked out saw that they were on the end of the motel raiding rooms. Kane lead me the other way to the back of the motel where an old pickup was waiting.
"Don't worry, I have keys for this from my friend," he said pulling out keys from his pockets. It had a the symbol as the one on my necklace. We got in and started back on the road.
"Where are we going?"
"To your dad's house, of course."
"I thought that you said that he was a serial killer."
"I said he was a serial killer." He looked as if he was smirking in the dim city light.

We spent the rest of the night driving out of Texas. It was silent the whole ride. I turned on the radio to try and make it less awkward. I was just so angry the whole situation. We going to the home psychotic person's house, who is also my birth father. It couldn't get any more confusing.
We got to the border of Texas at midnight. I was exhausted and wanted to curl up in Kane's arms and cry, but I had to be stronger than that.
"Hey, do you want to call it a night and go to a motel?" Kane asked pull I got over.
"I don't want to do that, those guys might come back and actually catch me," I said shaking my head. "I am hungry though." He smiled and kept driving.
We pulled into the gas station that we saw . "I'll be right back, okay," he said before he went into the building. I nodded.
The gas station was in the middle of nowhere, which of course made me even more suspicious. I was wrong though, Kane came back with two bags full of goodies. He got in and handed the bags to me. I looked inside and saw a bunch of candy bars, chip bags, and sodas.
"I didn't know what you liked, so I got a little bit of everything," he said starting the truck again.
"Good thing that I like everything in here," I said, reaching for a bottle of Coca Cola. Kane continued to drive down the road to my psycho dad's house and everything was just fine.
