The next morning we woke up and got ready to go, we already had all of Nick's baby furniture except his crib packed so Georgia got Nick and I took his crib out to the trailer and put it on the back of it strapping it in with the rest of the furniture.
We had all agreed to meet the team at the nearby gas station and Lucas would show us the fastest way to the territory. Once we got there I got out to fill up our truck and considering I just got back from Iran yesterday I was still a little sore so I was a little slow walking in the store.
"Make it $40 on that black hummer." I told the cashier and went outside to pump the gas after paying. A few minutes later the rest of the team drove up and Lucas came in behind them.
They all got out and I motioned them over. "Fill up your tanks, we're in for a long ride." I told them and they nodded.
They filled their trucks up and we got back on the road. On the ride Sarah asked how long we would be riding for and I told her. "I'm not sure, at least four hours." I said and she nodded. "Wake me up when we get there." She said and lay back to go to sleep.
"Let's put some music on." Georgia said and I nodded putting the radio on country music. While the music was playing I relaxed and the drive went smoothly, Lucas was leading with me behind him and the rest behind me.
About three hours later we pulled into a restaurant to eat and I woke Sarah up while Georgia got Nick.
"Daddy." Nick said and I went over to him. "Hey buddy, no shifting in here." I said and he nodded. "My smart little boy, make sure you stay a little boy today." I said. "Ok daddy." He said and I smiled. He may only be a year old but he's got the mind of a six year old as far as speaking, understanding what we say, and obeying.
We all went inside and got a few looks seeing as we're kind of a big group since the team all brought their families but we just waited on a seat. "How many?" The waitress asked and I counted heads. "Let's say somewhere between fifteen and twenty and one high chair for the baby." I said and she took us to a big table in a separate room.
We all got our orders in and waited for the food. Lucas was sitting across from me and he looked up at me. "When we get to the territory you will all need to be introduced to the pack." He said and I nodded. "How many are there?" I asked him and he thought for a second. "About 500 give or take a few." He said and I was impressed.
"Big pack, how do you keep up with all those wolves." I asked him and he told me. "I have my beta and 3rd in command help me with keeping up with how many are in the pack and the pack follows my orders along with my mate, their Luna." He said and I nodded.
"That's about how we done things at the base in Miami." I told him and he nodded. Then the food arrived and we ate what we ordered, it was good. We all paid our share on the bill and left a tip and got back to the vehicles.
Once we were on the road and I turned the radio on there was a news broadcast on. There was some bad weather on the way and it was supposed to hit the gulf coast around where we were about to be driving through with a small chance of it changing direction.
I let the team and Lucas know what I just heard and they said they would be prepared.
After a few more hours of driving it started a light rain as we were getting into Mississippi. "Guess we'll be getting a storm and we may need to pull off somewhere to wait for it to pass." I told Georgia and she nodded.
It started to get worse and I turned on the radio to listen to what was coming although I think I already know. My suspicions were confirmed when the forecast said a hurricane was on the way to the area we were in and I told the team and Lucas to pull off somewhere away from the coast and we could wait out the storm.
Once we got out of range of the major storm we parked in a parking garage at the nearest storm shelter and got inside the shelter. There were a few families already in here so we stood and let the women and children have the seats.
Sarah and Georgia sat together and the rest of the team's families sat close to them.
A clap of thunder sounded overhead and Sarah ran over to me. "Daddy, how long will this last?" She asked and I knelt down to her level. "It shouldn't last for more than a few hours, it'll be ok." I told her and she nodded and hugged me before going back to Georgia.
I stood back up and looked around at the families sheltered here and thought about where they would stay if the storm damaged their homes.
I looked to the men in the shelter and saw them with a woman or alone and I saw one in particular who looked suspicious. "Lucas." I said low enough for only him to hear. "Man in the corner, keep an eye on him." I told him and he nodded.
I stood where I could keep an eye on him and waited to see if he would do anything. As I was watching him he stood and I was ready for if he decided to make a move but he just stretched and sat back down.
A few minutes later I heard the click of a revolver and saw a glint in his eye as he jumped up and drew his pistol. I drew my own and aimed it at him as he was aiming at a young woman. "Drop it." I told him and he swung his pistol at me.
I dodged and grabbed his shooting arm bending it backwards making him drop the revolver as a shot went off. "We could've avoided this if you had just dropped the gun." I told him and handcuffed him with wire ties. A man came up to us and told me who he was. "I'm Jack O'Connor and a cop here, thanks for saving my daughter." He said and grabbed the guy sitting him back in his corner.
"Captain!" Someone shouted and I turned my attention towards them. "Sam." I said and walked over to him. "It's just a flesh wound I'll be fine." He said but I got Marcus to wrap it up to stop the bleeding, the bullet grazed his arm and it was bleeding pretty badly.
After we had someone wrap it up I looked around at the cowering families and stood to my feet. "Everything will be fine, after that little incident I hope nobody will try a stunt like that again." I said and everyone nodded then the cop came over and asked who we were.
"Who are you and why did he call you 'captain'?" He asked and I told him. "We're U.S. Navy SEALS from Miami Florida, we were transferred to a base here in Mississippi and I'm their captain." I said and he nodded understanding.
"Thanks again for saving my daughter, I turned my head for one second and someone already had a gun pointed at her." He said and I nodded. "Something about the same has happened to me last month." I told him and he nodded.
Nick came up to me as he's learning to walk somewhat and I picked him up. "Good job little man." I told him and he giggled. "Daddy take down bad guy." He said and I laughed. "Yes I did little man." I said and he looked at the cop.
"This is Nicholas, my one year old, but he learned to talk faster than he learned to walk." I told him and he nodded. "Looks like you have a genius on your hands." He said and I nodded as Nick laughed.
I walked back over to Georgia and handed Nick back to her so he could fall asleep in her arms and he did almost instantly.
A few hours later the storm finally blew over and I stepped outside the shelter to see the damage and Jack came out behind me. "Come on out guys." I said to the team but our families stayed behind and Jack looked to me. "Would you and your team stay behind to help us out today to look for survivors?" He asked and I nodded. "Our families can stay here while we help you but I need to make a phone call first." I told him and he nodded thanking me.
I walked away to call the Admiral and he picked up on the second ring. "Admiral Sutherland here." He said and I told him what was going on. "We might be a little late getting there we had to take shelter and wait out a hurricane and they asked for my team's help for search and rescue." I told him. "Of course, that'll be fine see you later then." He said and I thanked him and hung up saying bye.
"Ok let's get started split up and search different areas and if you need any help you know how to reach me." I told the team and we all went to look at different areas after we told our families what was going on. Jack came with me and told me the National Guard would have a medical tent set up where we could take any survivors and I nodded.
"Help." Someone said and I looked over towards the voice seeing a little kid trapped in a car. "Over here." I told Jack and he followed me to the car.
I looked inside to see his parents unconscious in the front seat and a small pine tree was on top of the car. "Help me lift this." I told Jack and we got the tree off the car and I pulled the car door open getting the little boy out first.
As I was getting the parents out a few National Guardsmen came to help out. I pulled the woman out and handed her to a guy and then got the man out and lay him on the ground next to the woman. I checked his pulse and couldn't feel one. "Hey, I'm not getting a pulse." I said and someone came over.
I checked him for any serious wounds and found some cuts from the broken glass of the windshield of the car. I cleaned them up as the other guy was trying to revive him and soon I heard a breath and he opened his eyes.
"Can you hear me sir?" I asked him and he nodded his head. "If it wasn't for your son calling for help we might not have found you." I said and he looked towards his boy.
"Is he ok?" He asked and I told him. "Just a few minor cuts and bruises, but nothing too bad." I told him and he nodded looking relieved.
I looked to the National Guardsmen and told them I had to go find more survivors. "Ok we got everything taken care of here." They said and I nodded as I stood to go find some more survivors.
After I found a few more survivors one of my team contacted me. "I need some help over here." He said and I answered immediately. "Turn on your GPS locator, I'll be there soon." I said and he turned it on.
He wasn't too far from where I was so I ran with Jack to go find my guy. When I got there he was on the ground with a cross beam over his legs. "Help me get these off of him." I told Jack and he did.
We got it off him and he tried to stand but couldn't. "I think the left one is broken." He said and I nodded. "Ok I'm going to take you to the nearest National Guard medical tent and see if they can help you out." I told him and he nodded as I helped him up and he leaned on me.
I took him to the nearby tent and got someone to help him. "He thinks his leg is broken." I told a man that came over and he nodded taking us to a military cot.
He took an x-ray and told us what it was. "Just a small fracture, I'll put a splint on it and he'll be fine." He said but I told him to wait and called for Lucas. "What you need?" He asked when he showed up. "Doesn't your right wing heal?" I asked him and he nodded saying it did.
"Would you be able to heal his fractured leg?" I asked him and he nodded. "Of course, it won't take long." He said and got his wings out, the section we were in had no people except the National Guard and us, and then touched his right wing to the leg healing it instantly.
The man who took the x-ray asked what Lucas was and he told him. "I'm part death angel and part werewolf." He said and the guy nodded.
"Well I think we should get back to helping so let's go." I told Lucas and Marcus and they nodded following me out. We got closer to the coast when I started smelling blood. "Hey do you smell that?" I asked Lucas and he sniffed the air. "Yeah, blood, in this direction." He said pointing towards the ruins of a house. We went towards the house when I saw an arm under the rubble. "Over there." I said pointing towards the arm.
We went over to the spot and started digging when the hand moved. "He's still alive." I said and we worked faster when I noticed the uniform, he was with the National Guard. I pulled him away from the house and looked at the wound. He had a metal rod through his abdomen. "Let's get him back to the medical tent and see if they can do anything for him." I said and Lucas got one side while I got the other and Marcus kept people out of the way.
"Hey we need some help over here!" I shouted when we got to the tent, this guy was losing blood fast. "Hernandez." Someone said and ran over to us. "Where was he?" They asked when they got to us and we told him. "He was under a house, he's still alive if barely but you need to get that rod out of him." I told them and they rushed us to a surgical table.
"If you get the rod out I can heal him." Lucas said and they nodded seeing his wings after they closed off the area around him and got a few more men in here.
A few got to working on him and one of the men came over to us. "Thanks for saving Cpl. Hernandez, he's a really good friend and a great man." He said and I nodded. "No problem, I feel the same way about my SEAL team, I would risk my life for them as my old captain done for us before I became captain when he retired." I said and he nodded.
"Got it out." Someone said and we went over to the guy. Lucas touched him with his right wing and he healed instantly and woke up a minute later. "Hey guys, what's happening?" He asked and they laughed.
"We thought we lost you for a minute there." One guy said and he nodded. "Who healed me?" He asked and Lucas stepped forward. "Thanks man, my family will be glad to see me back home." He said and Lucas nodded.
"Just doing my job." He said and Hernandez nodded. "What are you by the way?" He asked and Lucas told him. "Part werewolf and part death angel but I also have the power to heal in my right wing." He said and Hernandez nodded. "I've heard of you, you're in the Navy aren't you?" He asked and Lucas nodded. "I'm in the Navy but I'm just coming back from Florida to escort a SEAL team to their new base in at the gulf coast about thirty miles from here." He said motioning to me and Marcus.
"Thanks again." He said as he stood up to shake our hands. "We better get going, the Admiral shouldn't be kept too long." Lucas said and I nodded. "Good luck." I told Hernandez and he nodded.
We met the team back at the shelter and Jack was there too. "Thanks for the help." He said and we nodded. "No problem, we gotta get going though." I told him and we went to get our families and left.
About thirty minutes later we were at the territory and I stared at the amount of werewolves waiting for their Alpha's return. I followed Lucas as he drove to the vacant homes by the coast and when we got there I saw the one Georgia wanted and parked up by it. It was close to the same as the others but she wanted one on the end so I chose it. We got inside and I told Sarah to go pick her room while we looked at the master bedroom.
"I love it." Georgia said when we got in the room and I smiled. "Good because this is where we'll be sleeping." I told her and she nodded. We went to find where Sarah chose her room and she picked a nice sized bedroom that would hold the furniture we brought of hers.
"I'm sure dad will enjoy being in the house we were in, but then again he might sell it for us." I told Georgia and she nodded agreeing with me.
"So Sarah this is the room you like?" I asked her and she nodded her head. "It's big and I like my space." She said and I agreed with her.
"Why don't we go see where Nick is going to be sleeping?" I asked Georgia and she nodded shifting him to her other hip. We went to the room next to ours and Georgia fell in love with it. "It's perfect, with a little redecorating in here it'll be great for Nick." She said and I agreed.
"Time to get all the furniture moved in and then I gotta go with my team to meet the Admiral." I told her and she nodded.
Lucas and a few of his pack members were downstairs waiting on me so we could move the furniture in and so I got down there. "How's she liking the house?" Lucas asked and I told him. "She's in love with it already." I said and he nodded.
"I figured she would like it, the rest of your team love their homes." He said and I nodded.
"I figured they would." I told him and we started getting the furniture moved in. I helped show which furniture goes where and helped get the last bed in and had to go meet the team to go to the base.
I got to the vehicles and the team met me at my hummer. "You guys ready to meet the Admiral?" I asked them and they nodded. "Which way is faster?" I asked Lucas. "If you go through the woods it's faster by fifteen minutes." He said and I nodded. "Well, I guess we can go through the woods." I said and the team agreed.
I shifted into a horse and told three people they could get on my back and two could get on Lucas's wolf back. Sam, Marcus, and Silas got on my back and Jacob and Alex got on Lucas's.
We ran to the base with the guys holding on tight and once we got to the base they got off our backs and we shifted back. A guard met us at the gate and I announced why I was here. "I'm here to see the Admiral." I told them and they looked at me.
"What are your names?" He asked and I told him. "I'm Captain Lucian Phillips and the guys with me are Commander Marcus Hart, Lieutenants Silas Martin, and Alex Ferguson, and Ensigns Sam Hamilton, and Jacob Rice." I told him and he nodded letting us in.
The Admiral met us inside and I saluted him. "Nice to meet you, sir." I said and he nodded saluting us back. "Nice to meet you too." He said and told us to follow him so we did.
"Now I know you know Lucas so he can show you around sometime, but I'm going to introduce you to some of the other teams you will be working with." He said and I nodded. "That would be great." I told him.
"Now I heard you were a shifter, what all can you turn into?" He asked and I told him. "Anything or anyone I want or need to." I told him and he nodded. "So you can turn into a lion, wolf, or any animal and any human you want to?" He asked and I nodded then turned into a black lion.
"I can also talk while in animal form." I told him and he nodded seeing as I was a lion talking like a human. I shifted back to my human form and asked if there was a specific person he wanted me to turn into.
"Can you become him?" He asked pointing to Sam and I nodded telling Sam to say something so I would know the voice I needed to use. I shifted into Sam and the Admiral looked amazed when I talked sounding just like Sam.
"I've already been on an undercover mission as a guy named Jamaal Finley but they found out who I was because they had a shifter posing as Commander Hart." I told him and then shifted back to my original form.
"That would be useful sometimes when we need your shifting abilities." He said and I nodded. We got to the rec room and there were a few teams in there already. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, this is our new SEAL team, one of the best, so do your meet and greet and then get back to work except the ones who can go home." He told them and they agreed. "Yes sir." They all shouted and then he looked at me. "When you're done here come meet me by the gate with your team." He said and I nodded.
We all met with a few people from different teams and then left the rec room to meet with the Admiral. "Admiral Sutherland, you wanted to see us?" I asked once we got to the gate. "Yes, you can all start back to work tomorrow." He said and we all nodded. "Yes sir, we'll be here bright and early." I said and he nodded.
"Good, now get home and I'll see you tomorrow and by the way, how did you get here?" He asked and I told him and then shifted back into a horse and knelt down for the men to get on my back. "See you tomorrow Admiral." I told him and then walked out the gates.
I trotted halfway and then told the men to get off my back and they could walk beside me the rest of the way. When they got off my back and we got back on the territory I had a few pack members meet me not knowing who we were. "We're the new pack members." I told them and they shifted back when I did.
"A horse?" They asked and I shifted into a hyena.
"This any better?" I asked and then shifted into a wolf. "Or this?" I asked them and they seemed surprise. "A superior shifter?" One asked and I shifted back to my original form and nodded. "Yes I'm a superior shifter but I just found out what I was a few weeks ago." I told them and they nodded letting me pass.
Only a superior shifter can talk while in animal form and that's how they knew I was a superior.
I went back up to the house and found Lucas waiting for us. "When would you like to meet the rest of the pack?" He asked and I thought about it for a second. "Tonight would be good." I told him and he nodded.
"I'll have everyone ready, let your team know and teach them how to block their minds from the pack-link so it won't overload their minds with chatter from the pack." He said and I nodded.
"Will do, they will be prepared." I told him and he nodded and left to take care of pack business. I met with my team and their families and told them how to block the pack-link from their minds.
"Just think of a wall and you won't hear chatter from the pack and it won't overload your brain with voices." I told them and they said they would try it when they officially joined the pack tonight.
"This will be the first pack that has humans and a few shifters joining the pack, so if anyone looks at you funny, just ignore it they won't be used to having humans in the pack for a while like I'm still not totally used to the idea of being a shifter." I told them and they nodded.
"So everyone ready for tonight as far as knowing things?" I asked everyone and they said they were. "Alright see you in a few hours, dress in something nice but casual." I told them just before they left.
We have an hour to get ready for this so I got my shower after Georgia got hers and we all got ready. It was almost time for it to start so I got everyone outside and Lucas was out there waiting. The team came to meet us with their families and Lucas led us to his ceremony center.
He went out onstage to announce us and once he got done we would step out of the shadows. "We have some new members joining us today, most of them are human but there's a family of shifters and it's a SEAL team from Florida with their families, they may only stay temporarily or they may stay for good just make them feel welcome and treat them like you would any other pack member." He said and then motioned for us to come out.
"You are all now official members of the pack." He said and the rest of the pack cheered. "Welcome to the pack." He told us and then we went to meet the rest of the pack.
I had Nick in my arms and Sarah was with Georgia by my side when a woman came up to us. "Your kids are adorable." She said and I smiled. "Thank you ma'am, they get their looks from their mother." I told her and she smiled.
"They have a big future ahead." She said and I nodded. "Especially my little man here." I said motioning to Nick in my arms and he giggled.
Then he decided he wanted to turn into a chimp again and a second later I had a chimp in my arms. "Nick, what have I told you about shifting too often?" I asked him and he shifted back. "That's better." I told him and he giggled again. "So you're a superior shifter?" She asked and I nodded. "He is too, I'm not totally sure if Sarah has any of the superior's extra abilities or not but I know he does." I told her and she nodded looking a little nervous.
"No need to be nervous around me, being a superior shifter just means I would be an alpha if I was a werewolf, unless there's something more I don't know." I said and she nodded. "You would have to talk to the alpha about that one I only know what I'm told about you superior shifters." She said and I nodded.
"Anyway, it's about time we get these little ones to bed and plus I gotta be up early in the morning with my team so we can get to work on time." I told her and she nodded and we went home.
We got the kids in bed and went to our room to sleep. "We need to get Sarah enrolled in the local school." Georgia said and I nodded. "I think the pack has one that she can go to." I told her and she nodded and fell asleep and after a minute I fell asleep tired from today's events.
