Chapter 13

A few hours later I woke up hearing a noise and felt a prick of a needle. As I was waking up I smelled something, they had a strange scent, human, but they smell like a hunter. I opened my eyes the rest of the way and saw a man standing over me with a dagger poised for the kill.
I instinctively grabbed the dagger from his hands and had him on the ground in seconds. I hit the nurses call button and someone was in the room in seconds. Seeing me on top of a guy they came up to me. "What happened here?" She asked and I told her. "He was standing over me with the intention of killing me." I told her showing her the dagger.
"I'll get the cops." She said and I nodded. A few seconds later uncle Diego woke up and saw me still sitting on top of the hunter.
"What's going on?" He asked and I told him. "This hunter came to kill me but I overpowered him." I said and he nodded getting over to him to tie him up.
As soon as I stood up I felt dizzy and as I fell I tried to grab something to hold me up but ended up taking it down with me.
After he finished tying the hunter up he came over to me. "Lucian, speak to me." He said and I tried but couldn't find the strength to. "Doesn't have long now." The hunter smirked and uncle Diego got up and went over to him. "Attempting to kill a royal can get you life in prison, injuring a royal in my family can get you killed." He said and then knocked the hunter out.
I looked to where I felt the needle go in and saw my veins starting to pop out like a spider web. He came back to me and got me on the bed and went to call a doctor in here.
"What happened?" The doctor asked when he got in here and soon the cops came in. "That man tried to kill a royal, and I believe he injected him with something, he can't speak or move now." Uncle Diego said and the doctor came to look at me.
"Lucian, blink once for yes and twice for no and for certain questions three times for maybe or barely." He said and asked a question.
"Do you feel any pain as of now?" He asked and I blinked twice. "Do you feel this?" He asked as he pinched me and I blinked three times, it felt like a small pressure.
Soon I felt a little pain starting on my arm and I moved my eyes to the injection site and the veins were turning black. "Are you feeling pain on your arm?" He asked and I blinked once then the pain went from a small ache to agonizing in seconds.
My joints locked up until I finally passed out from the pain just as aunt Alexandria was waking up.
Alexandria's POV:
I woke up to see my nephew laying on the bed and a doctor was by his side along with Diego, my husband. I was by his side in seconds and upon seeing the blackened veins on his arm I knew something was terribly wrong.
"What's going on?" I asked Diego and he told me what happened. "That guy had the intention of killing Lucian and from what I'm guessing injected him with something causing temporary paralysis and taking his ability to speak and then putting him through intense pain." He said and I was shocked.
Seeing the cops getting ready to take the man out of here I stopped them. "If you don't mind, we would like to deal with him." I told them and they looked at each other. "Who are you and who is the victim?" One asked and I told them. "I am queen Alexandria of Austria and the victim is prince Lucian, newly found heir to king Diego's throne and our nephew." I told him and he nodded.
"Of course, but if you don't mind we can provide protection." He said and I nodded. "You may, keep an eye on him while we figure out what he injected Lucian with." I told them and they nodded and set him on a chair while guarding him.
I went back over to Lucian and he was looking worse by the second. Then I thought of something that could've been injected into him, the only thing that can kill a shifter in this manner. The poison from a certain type of plant.
"I think I know what they injected into him, if it's what I think it is there's nothing we can do for him if we don't have the antidote." I told the doctor and he asked what it was. "The poison from a Himalayan ice lilly." I told him and he nodded and then I heard the man speak up hearing my prediction.
"Smart lady, I wondered when you would figure it out." He said and my temper flared. "If he dies, I will have you put through some of the worst torture you can imagine, if you think some of the other torture tactics are something, you should see this and then you will regret ever living." I told him and his eyes widened in fear.
I looked around the room for a bag of some kind and saw a small black bag and looked through it. Soon I found the antidote for the poison, I hope I'm not too late.
I told the doctor to get me a syringe and he did so I got it and got the right amount in the syringe. "Stand back, if this makes him wake up he could lash out at anyone." I told everyone and they did as I injected the antidote into his system, by now he was already pale and his skin was getting cold.
Soon his eyes shot open and his eyes widened and the veins on his neck popped out from the pain that was still coarsing through his system. "Lucian, you're going to be okay, the pain will pass." I told him but I wasn't sure if he could hear me.
His body started to slowly relax as the pain was leaving, he was still pale and he had dark circles around his eyes and his pupils were dilated. "How you feeling Lucian?" I asked him and he looked to me.
"Better, what did he inject me with?" He asked me and I told him.
Lucian's POV:
While I was unconscious I felt another needle prick and soon I was awake and in a lot of pain. My body felt like it was being ripped in half and then shredded with a paper shredder. I couldn't hear anything around me for the moment and I could barely move.
Soon after the pain passed I heard aunt Alexandria ask how I was feeling and I told her. "Better, what did he inject me with." I asked her. "Poison from a rare Himalayan ice lilly, a very powerful poison that could've killed you if I hadn't have found the antidote in time." She said and I nodded.
"I must look terrible." I said and she nodded. "You do, but after a few hours you will get your color back and you won't look so bad." She told me.
"Good, because I don't want to look like this when Georgia comes back." I told her and she smiled and nodded.
"Well looks like the prince will be fine." The hunter said and I looked towards him. "You, I swear it, you will regret ever trying to kill me if you don't die of fear before I can get to you." I told him and he gulped.
I sniffed the air after the doctor left and smelled two werewolves in the room and saw the cops. When they saw me looking at them they shined their wolf eyes and smiled. "Welcome to the pack, we never got to be there for the ceremony when alpha Lucas introduced you and your team into the pack." One said and I nodded.
"Good to know we don't have to hide what we are around you." I told them. "Yeah so you're actually royalty?" The smaller one asked and I nodded. "Apparently, I just learned about it yesterday afternoon." I told them and they nodded. "Don't tell my wife or kids what happened here, they don't need to know about this." I told everyone. "Your secret is safe with us." Uncle Diego said and I smiled.
"Thanks uncle Diego." I told him and he nodded. "I feel these years are catching up to me though." He said and I laughed. "Well I guess living four to five hundred years does that to you." I said and he nodded laughing with me.
I looked at the hunter and once my eyes met his he shrank in fear. "Hey, you know what uncle Diego?" I asked him and he asked what while looking at the hunter. "I know someone who could come and torture the hunter and all I have to do is say his name and he'll appear here." I told him and we looked at each other and smiled.
"Ruvel, I have something for you." I said and he appeared a second later. "You called?" He asked and I nodded and pointed towards the hunter.
He smiled his creepy smile and walked towards the hunter. "Go make sure nobody enters this room." I told the cops and they nodded stepping outside the door.
The hunter started whimpering in fear and then his eyes bulged as Ruvel started the torture first by touching his arm with his fingertips. Then he done the pain stare and the hunter whimpered in pain. Last he done his painful death stare and the hunter's skin started peeling from his bone.
Soon it was silence and there was nothing left of the hunter but a pile of bones and some blood. "What are you Ruvel?" Uncle Diego asked and Ruvel bowed to him. "I am the son of Death, I am the grim reaper, and a friend of Lucian's." He said and he nodded.
"Nice work." He told him and Ruvel nodded and snapped his fingers and the body was gone. "Pleasure to be at your service your majesty." Ruvel said and uncle Jordan spoke up. "No need for formalities, just call me Diego." He told Ruvel and he nodded. "And just call me Alexandria." Aunt Alexandria said and Ruvel nodded. "I'll see you later Lucian, get better." He said and disappeared.
I told the cops they could come back in and they did. "Didn't have anyone try to get in." They said and I nodded. "Good, maybe it'll stay that way now." I said and they nodded and then I fell asleep again.
I woke up the next morning and Georgia was here with Nick. "Good morning." I said and she looked at me. "Do you think they're going to let you come home tonight?" She asked and I nodded. "Maybe earlier, but we'll find out later." I told her and she nodded.
"Had any more shifting problems from Nick?" I asked her. "No, I think he finally got the point that he doesn't need to shift all the time." She said and I nodded.
"Good, he needs to learn to keep it under control, he'll be two in a month or two." I said and she nodded looking down at the sleeping boy.
"Where are the other two?" I asked her about my aunt and uncle. "They stayed at a hotel nearby." She said and I nodded.
"And dad?" I asked. "He's staying at our house and I just let him sleep, he needed it because he was up all night." She said and I nodded, it was always like him to stay awake when someone in the family was in the hospital or something." I mentioned and she nodded.
Soon the doctor came in and I asked when I could leave. "Well, considering you are doing better so far, you can leave in a few minutes after you sign the release forms." He said and I smiled. "Good, I'm ready to get home, I never did like hospitals." I said and he nodded and went to get the release forms while I got dressed.
He came back in a few minutes later and we signed the forms and went home. Once we got in the door Russell came to greet me. "Hey buddy." I said rubbing his back.
"Lucian, you got to come home." Dad said and I looked up to him. "Yes sir, they released me a few minutes after I woke up." I told him and he nodded. "You may want to tell your aunt and uncle though and go pick them up from the hotel." He said and I nodded and then Georgia spoke up.
"Sarah wanted you to visit the school if you got out of the hospital in time and it's on the way to the hotel if you want to stop by there on the way to or from the hotel." She said and I thought for a second.
"Sure, you're going to have to show me where the hotel is Georgia so come on." I told her and she came out to the hummer with me and called the school. I decided I would stop by the school on the way to the hotel so I could see Sarah for a few minutes.
We got to the school and got our visitors passes and went to Sarah's class she was in now. I knocked on the door and heard the teacher tell me to come in and so I did. Once I got in the room Sarah ran up to me and jumped into my arms. "Daddy!" She shouted and I hugged her close.
"So what did you want me to visit for Sarah?" I asked her and she pulled back. "I wanted my class to meet you." She said. "Well then introduce me." I told her putting her back on the floor.
"Guys, this is my daddy, a United States Navy SEAL and captain of his own team." She said and the class looked on in awe. "And a little secret, he just found out he's the prince of Siberia." She whispered and the class seemed unconvinced. "Prove it." Someone said.
"That's one thing I can't exactly prove without the king and queen here so I'm just going to pass on that one." I told the class and they looked disappointed and then my aunt and uncle walked in. "Well, here they are now, how did you know I was out of the hospital and here?" I asked them.
"Your father told us after he asked if you had made it to the hotel yet and when we told him no he told us where you might be." Aunt Alexandria said and I nodded. "Well these kids wanted proof that I'm prince of Siberia and so I guess you can give them that proof, and Sarah wants us to prove it to them although I may not be accepting the position for a while." I told them and they nodded.
"Well kids, I am Queen Alexandria and my husband is King Diego and we are king and queen over Siberia, and Lucian and his family are our only heirs to the thrones." Aunt Alexandria told them and they looked a little surprised.
"And you can skip on the formalities with me, the idea is just now sinking in with everything that's happened over the past few days and I'm still a SEAL serving my country and protecting my family." I told the kids and they nodded speechless.
"Hey Sarah, I guess it's time for us to go back home I'll see you after school." I told her and she nodded. "Ok daddy, stay safe." She said and I smiled. "I'll stay as safe as I possibly can." I told her and she nodded and went back to her seat as we were walking out the door.
"Ready to see our new house?" I asked my aunt and uncle and they nodded. "Of course, we would love to see your home and meet your team." They said and I nodded. "Also we are part of a werewolf pack where the alpha is part death angel and there's more than 500 members total." I told them and they nodded understanding.
We got to the hummer and they got to their rental and I led them onto the territory. We met the guards at the entrance and I told them I had a couple of guests from my family and they let us in. "Here we are." I told them when we got out of the vehicles at the house. "You have a lovely view and home." Aunt Alexandria said and Georgia and I thanked her.
Once dad came outside Russell got out behind him and ran up to me placing his paws on my chest, he's kinda big for a pitbull. "Hey buddy, you missed me already?" I asked him and he smiled. "So this must be Russell." Uncle Diego said and I nodded.
"That would be correct, this is Russell, our big but gentle pitbull." I told him and he nodded. Then Russell got off of me and performed a new trick. He actually bowed to uncle Diego. "That's new." I said and Georgia nodded.
"Well, the dog has respect." Uncle Diego said surprised and Russell stood back up and smiled at him. "And a good smile." Aunt Alexandria added and I nodded. "He always was one to smile at a compliment or someone he likes and if he doesn't like you he'll ignore you." I told her and she nodded.
We went inside and sat around the living room. "I'm thinking of exploring the territory and meeting with some more of the pack in a little bit so if anyone wants to go with me when I do just come." I told everyone and they nodded.
I looked at the time and it was almost 2 in the evening so I got up to go check out the basement and see what could be done with it. "I'll be right back." I told Georgia and she nodded as I was getting up.
When I got down to the basement I saw a few different rooms and went to look in all the rooms. The first one was empty as were the next few with a small bathroom in between the last two, but the last room had some exercise equipment already furnished in it.
We could probably turn the first few rooms into bedrooms and have a little playroom for the kids in one of them so with that in mind I went back upstairs. I told Georgia what I found and what my idea was for the empty rooms and she nodded. "That could work." She said and then it was time for Sarah to be getting home, they get out at around 2:30 at the school she goes to and so we went outside to wait for her.
She pulled up and came over to us. "Drop your backpack off inside and come back out, we're going to see the territory and meet some more of the pack that we didn't get to meet." I told her and she nodded and went inside.
She came back outside and we started walking towards the little town on the territory where some of the pack works. We got there and it was busy with pack members going in and out of little shops or diners.
While we were walking around the territory we met some of the pack and soon I saw Lucas with a few people and four kids, they must be his mate and their triplets and then his triplet brother and sister. We walked over to them and I spoke up once we got close. "Hey Lucas, this your family?" I asked him and he looked up.
"Hey Lucian, and to answer your question, yes. This is Tala and her boy Cole, Ruvel is out doing his job collecting souls, and this is Jake my brother and the beta, and this is Jasmine, my mate, with our ten year old triplets Mark, Alex, and Alexia." He said and I nodded. "Nice to meet you all finally, I haven't had the time to see the territory because of the last mission I was on with my team in Afghanistan." I told them and they nodded.
"Nice to meet you too, who's with you?" Tala asked. "My wife Georgia and our daughter Sarah and son Nick, my dad Jonah who is a retired Marine, and my aunt and uncle queen Alexandria and king Diego of Siberia." I introduced everyone and they all shook hands.
"Daddy, can we go show Sarah around the territory?" One of Lucas's girls asked him. "Sure Alexia, if that's alright with you." He added looking at us. "Of course, go have fun Sarah but be home by 5." I told her and she nodded and the kids walked away. "How were my men at the base today?" I asked Lucas. "They were good, the admiral took your place for today and he's taking over for you tomorrow since you're taking a day off and he trained them some more so they would stay in shape." He said and I nodded.
"Good, and how was Sam?" I asked him. "He's one determined kid." He said and I nodded remembering what his father told him when he got to come back to visit for a bit, I guess he's taking his advice seriously. "Well, that's good, the more determination you have the better you get." I said and Lucas agreed.
"Well, why don't we show you guys around the territory and show you where the training center is." Tala suggested. "Of course, lead the way." I told her and she nodded with a smile and gave us a tour.
We got to the training compound and went through the gates and once I laid my eyes on the equipment I knew I would be visiting this spot often. As I looked  around and saw the warriors training and sparring I knew Lucas trained them with Navy techniques.
"Doing great guys!" He shouted to them as they kept training. "They're pretty good." I told him and Lucas nodded. "I have someone on my team that I accidentally turned on one of our missions who helps me train them and with our combined techniques they learn pretty quickly and almost never forget anything and if they do forget any of the techniques they improvise." He said and I nodded.
"We done the same thing when I first joined the SEALS." I told him as we left the training center. "I guess we should be getting back to the house, we need to check on Russell." I said and they nodded. "Of course, would you like me to bring Sarah home later?" Lucas asked and I nodded. "If you don't mind, that would be great." I told him and he nodded and we headed back towards the house.
When we got to the house the team was waiting for me. "Captain Phillips, we have a problem." Commander Hart said. "Yes, what is it?" I asked him. "There were hunters at the base today and Sam was shot protecting the admiral, he's alive but critically injured." He said and I was ready to kill a hunter.
"Where's Sam and where are the hunters?" I asked him. "The hunters have been taken care of and Sam is on his way to the hospital." He said and I told them to load up in the hummer and we were going to check on Sam.
"I'll be back in a little bit, show them to the guest room if they want to stay here instead of in the hotel." I told Georgia pointing towards my aunt and uncle and gave her a kiss goodbye before I got in the hummer.
We drove to the hospital and I asked where Sam was. "Has a Sam Hamilton arrived yet and if so where is he?" I asked the guy at the nurse's station. "He just got here and he's being prepped for surgery just sit in the waiting room and we'll let you know when he gets out." He said and I nodded and we went to the waiting room.
A few hours later a doctor came in the room. "Is a Captain Lucian Phillips here?" He asked and I stood. "Right here, how's Sam?" I asked when I got to him. "Just got out of surgery, he's stable for now but we don't know if he'll live, the bullet just barely missed his heart. He'll be in room 217." He said and I nodded and went back to the team.
"He's stable for now, the bullet barely missed his heart and they got him in room 217." I told them and we went to his room. We got in there and sat in the chairs to wait for him to wake up and I called his mother while we waited.
"Mrs. Hamilton, this is Lucian Phillips, Sam's captain, Sam was shot he's here in the hospital and just got out of surgery in room 217." I told her when she answered and she said she was on her way then hung up.
She arrived a few minutes later and I told her what the doctor told me. "There is a small chance he won't live, but it's very unlikely that he will die if he's anything like his father, and so far he's got that spirit in him." I told her and she nodded thanking me before she sat down.
He was awake a few hours later and his mother was by his side in seconds. "Sam, how are you feeling?" She asked and he looked at her. "I'm fine, they must've given me something for the pain because I don't feel any." He said and she nodded with a small forced smile.
"Hamilton, good job saving the admiral, but you better pull through because you're still a part of this team and a funeral is not what we want to attend as of now." I told him and he nodded.
"Yes sir, I'll try my best." He said with a smile. "So captain, looks like the tables have turned now I'm the one injured in the hospital." He joked and I nodded. "Looks like it, I heard you're a very determined SEAL, determination is something this team needs because without it we wouldn't get anything done, keep up the good work." I told him with a smile.
"Thanks captain, mom, why don't you go on home, I would like to talk to the team alome." He said and she nodded and went out of the room to leave. "Captain Phillips, I know werewolves can turn people, but can a shifter turn a human?" He asked. "I'm not sure I would have to find out, why do you ask?" I asked him and he looked at me.
"I would like for you to turn me if you can, I just feel like I could be of more use if I was a shifter." He said and I looked at him. "You're of good use, but I'll see if I'll be able to and see how to do it and then get back to you on that." I told him and he nodded with a smile.
I left the room and called my uncle. He picked up on the third ring and I asked the question. "Hey, is a shifter able to turn a human?" I asked him and he told me only a royal like us can. "Great, can you meet me at the hospital, room 217?" I asked him and he said he was on his way.
He arrived a few minutes later and we went inside the room. "Ok so how do we turn a human?" I asked him. "You just take a little of your blood and inject it into the willing human and after at least three minutes they'll be a shifter." He said and I nodded.
"Sam, are you sure you want this? You know how much of a target I am as a shifter it could make you more of a target." I told him and he looked into my eyes and there was a sure look in his eyes. "Yes sir, I'm sure I want to become a shifter, and I trust your judgement." He said and I nodded.
"Ok, do you have the tools for this?" I asked uncle Diego and he nodded getting a little black pouch. Getting a syringe out he drew a small amount of my blood and handed me the syringe.
"Ok Sam, I'm not sure how this will feel so be prepared for any pain you might feel." I told him and he nodded.
I injected my blood into him and he looked at me when I was finished. "I don't feel anything yet." He said and I looked to him. "Just give it time, he said at least three minutes so we'll just have to wait." I told him.
Soon his eyes began to change color and I knew it was working. "It's working your eyes are changing color." I told him and he nodded. They turned a vivid blue and had glowing green flecks in them once they were finished and then his muscles began to fill out more and his legs got a little longer.
Three minutes later the change was complete. "I think it's finished." Uncle Diego said and I nodded. "You are now a shifter, use your abilities wisely." I told him and he nodded.
"You have good intentions." Uncle Diego said and I looked at him. "How can you tell that?" I asked him. "The color of his eyes, the blue means he's pure of heart and the green flecks reflect the wisdom of a full grown man, while yours are blue like his but with gold, green, and a few red flecks, gold meaning royalty, and red meaning you have extra strength and determination." He said and I nodded.
Soon his wound began to heal and he sat up. "You're going to have to hide what you are around humans, but I think we can get you out of here tonight." I told him and he nodded.
"I can tell mom though, right?" He asked and I nodded. "Of course you can, she knows about the supernatural world and so she can know about you." I told him and he nodded. "Good, because I never was able to hide anything from her. Would you be there when I tell her?" He asked. "Sure, if we can get you out tonight then we'll all be there." I told him and he nodded.
"Thanks captain, I really appreciate it." He said smiling. "No problem, you know if you ever need anything I'm here no matter the situation unless I'm on a mission while you're on a different mission." I told him and he nodded.
The doctor came in a few minutes later and seeing how well Sam was looking asked how he was feeling. "Good now, thanks for asking, now is there any way you can let me get out of here tonight?" He asked and the doctor checked a few things.
"Well, seeing as you look better and nothing is out of place, sure." He said and smiled. "Welcome to the supernatural family." He said and I looked at him. "You too?" I asked him and he nodded. "I'm one of the pack members of Southern Eclipse, alpha Lucas's pack, that lives in the town here." He said and I was surprised.
"I'll get those release forms." He said and left the room. A few minutes later we were leaving the hospital with Sam.
"What time are you going to tell your mom?" I asked him and he said he would like to right now so we turned off the hummer and got out at his house and went to the door.
He opened the door to find his mother sitting at the couch. "Hey, mom, I have something to tell you now please don't be mad." He said and she nodded. "Go ahead Sam." She said and he took a deep breath. "I asked Captain Phillips to turn me into a shifter and he did, it'll help me out better while I'm in the SEALS and I can protect you better." He told her.
"Ok, I figured you would want to become a shifter or a werewolf so I accept what you are." She said and he nodded smiling. "Thanks mom, it means a lot to me that you still accept me." He told her and she smiled. "Of course, now Lucian, you are going to teach him what he needs to know won't you?" She asked me and I nodded.
"Of course, he's still under my command in the team and now a shifter like me so I'll teach him the best I can as I'm still learning more about what we can do." I said and she approved. "Good, because he will need to learn to control it." She said and I nodded.
We left and I went home after dropping the guys off at their homes and I ate and went to bed with my mind clear.
