Chapter 1

My story

I ran through the forest as fast as my small legs could carry me. I was being followed by a Pokemon that looked like a shadow. I stumbled over a log and fell into a small clearing. I looked up to find the Pokemon glaring down at me. The Pokemon slashed me from my for head down to my knees. I screamed out of agony and fear.

It aimed for my heart and I readied myself for the final blow. It was ready to stike again, when an adult's voice yelled " Capture on!" A small disk-like object with a blue line coming from it, came from behind me and started to loop around the pokemon. The pokemon then used a move that cast a blanket of shadows over it'self and sunk into the ground. I then felt like my body was on fire. I was scared that this man was going to hurt me, so I shakingly I got up and started to run, even though my whole body screamed with exaution.

The man started to chase after me and yelled "Wait! I'm not going to hurt you!" I didn't even look back but I screamed "Who do you think I am?! I'm NEVER GOING BACK! And you'll never bring me back!!!"

A baby Absol appeared between the man and I, and started to growl at the man. I stopped to look back at the Absol. When I saw it, he was running beside the man."NOOO!!! SIlVERPUP!" I screamed.

I took off again even though I was going to collaspse any second. I ran into a clearing, and my legs buckled underneath me.

The man came up to me and said something. I was too terified to hear what he said. I started to cry and wail "don't take me back! Please! Just let me go!I'm so close!" He knelt down and said softly " it's ok. I'm here to help. I promise I won't hurt you. I just need to get you back to-" I was terrified of what he was going to say " NO! You'll.... nev-e" I tried to get up and run but the man's hand was on my shoulder, restricting me.

I started to cry. I hung my head in retreat and whispered "Fine...I will let you take me" my voice cracked. with fear. The man started to comfort me and reasure me that everything was ok.

I started to calm down and stop crying. I finally asked the man " Mister?" He look me in the eyes and said "yes?" "Who are you? And why did you save me?" He smiled, a kind fatherly smile, a smile I had never known. He answered " My name is Rand, and I'm a Pokemon Ranger."

I gave him a quizical look and responded "i'm Sparker, and I'm ten." I said it with pride like it was all I was proud of, which was true.

Rand then shortly studied me and worriedly "You-you're hurt" I looked down to see blood gushing from the head-to-toe gash. My eyes widened and I tried to back up out of panic, but Rand held onto my shoulders to keep me from running from panic, fear, and pain. I started to shake and hyproventilate from panic. I wimpered quietly, looking at my cut, while Rand tried to contct help.

I tried to push all my negative thoughts out of my head so I could calm myself down and concentrate on what was going on around me.

I closed my eyes and slowed my breathing down. I think I slowed it down a bit too much, beacause Rand had to shake me to snap me out of it. He looked gravely white, as if he saw a ghost. When he noticed that I was awake, he sighed with relief. Puzzled I looked back at him "what?" He shook his head and said "you weren't breathing" I calmly said "I was doing a certain type of meditation. I'm sorry for scaring you." He nodded blankly and said"Just-just don't do it again."

Just then Rand's styler started beeping. Someone was calling. I fell silent so I could listen to the conversation. It went something like this.

Rand: This is Rand, who is speaking?
