We pulled up to the hospital doors just as it started raining.

Bennett opened the door for me and put his arms and coat over my head to shield me from the rain.

He escorted me to the doors and as we were walking someone said something but all I could hear was the sirens of the ambulances, fire trucks and police cars.

We walked in and Bennett's dad talked to the nurse at the counter.

"We are looking for the Garzas."

We didn't have to be too specific because we lived in some what of a ghost town.

It's close to being "the hood."

The women pointed down the hall to a couple of doors and said something to Bennett.

Bennett held my hand and pulled me towards the doors.

He pushed one open and headed down the hall a couple of steps before heading to the left.

We kept walking for about a minute before heading left again into a large room.

Inside the room was two rows of seats in sets of two or all alone.

Each seat section was separated by a table with a remote and a magazine or two.

He lead me towards a set of seats and sat me down.

A few moments later his dad walked in with kenley.

I stared at the wall in front of me and then my gaze slowly shifted to the wall to my left and then to the floor.

My tear blurred eyes closed slowly and began to fall asleep.

I woke up a while later and a surgeon was talking to Bennett's dad in the entrance on the right.

The surgeon had blonde hair and wore blue scrubs and a pair of converse.

Another surgeon then came up beside her when she started to walk away.

This surgeon was a guy and he had dark brown hair and was very...dreamy.

The two stopped and talked before coming back to speak to Mr. King.

They had said no more then four words before pausing and turning to look at me.

Mr. King tried to smile at me but his attempt was weak.

He looked lit af.

I don't know what had gotten into me but I stood up and yelled.

"Just say it!"

They looked at me in surprise and the dreamy blonde doctor said to just tell me and not to keep a girl waiting like that.

When she said this she looked at the dreamy one for the last part.

They must've been married or dating or something because the way she looked at him seemed
too....too.....too friendly.

"......d."

I hadn't heard what they said at all.

"What?"
I asked confused.

"He's...Demetri is.... He is gone. Dead. He didn't make it out of surgery."

I was so surprised but angry and in denial.

"No way ... Of course he didn't make it out of surgery. He probably told you to tell me that."

"No he didn't make it come with us," the dreamy one said.

I stomped toward them and Bennett, his dad and Kenley stayed behind in the waiting room.

They lead me down the hall and to the right a couple times and then to a room on the left.

Hi body laid there lifeless and covered with a thin cotton sheet.

"And how many slaves spent their lives picking the cotton for this sheet just so you could play pretend....death or whatever with a patient?" I said kind of
sarcastically.

Then didn't say anything, just shook their heads and walked up to the bed and pulled it down.

His face was pale and his chest was purple and blue.

His head was partially shaved where they had to go in for the surgery and there where stitches over what was probably medical glue or something.

I laid my hand on his arm for a second and then started crying.

Then I laughed.

"This is dumb."

"I was stalked and now this? Oh boy and now my parents will blame me for the house for Demetri and then for making up stories when I explain why u left for Texas without FORMALLY saying goodbye," I cried out.

"I give up. I'm done," I said.
