I let out a pained moan on the cold ground. Before i could even look around to see where I was, I heard a distant swooshing sound and Tobi popped out of nowhere from above. He landed with grace on his feet. He didn't look dazed at all, as if he'd done this sort of thing all the time. Well he probably did since he knew so much about these...pit portals.
"You alright? Do you need help?" he asked gently as he extended his arm. I ignored it, not wanting his help. It was partly his fault that I was even in this state.
I clumsily got up, my legs felt weak under my weight but I managed to pull myself up without anyone's help.
"I told you that you had to go in properly! You wouldn't have had such a landing if-"
"Well I bet Sasha had this hard of a landing too. At least I got hurt too, considering it was my fault she came with us." I nearly felt like crying. I had gotten us into this mess. Maybe Sasha was right. I trusted people too easily.
Tobi looked at me with warm eyes. He actually looked sorry about everything. That look immediately made me feel bad for shouting at him this whole time.
"Sorry, I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I'm just stressed about being in this situation." I said honestly. "Could we please find Sasha now?"
"It's okay. I guess it is sort of my fault but I promise to get you out of here safely." Tobi said with a smile back on his face."Let's find Sasha then."He then took off down an icy looking patch.
"So, where are we exactly?" I asked as I caught up to him.
"A whole different little world, really. It's kind of below the earth, Some like to call it the Ice Lands."
"Ice Lands? As in Iceland?"
"No, just The Ice Lands. That's its name."
With a perplexed face I looked around in search for Sasha. Hopefully she hadn't gone far. I just had to trust Tobi, that she was fine.
The Ice Lands really did suit this place because it was exactly that. Just ice everywhere, making it difficult to walk. It looked sort of like a lit cave only covered in ice, and it was surprisingly warmer than expected. It seemed deserted so it was a bit creepy in that aspect.
I called out Sasha's name a few times, but couldn't see her anywhere. Then something surprised me- a cute little white bird popped out from behind an ice wall. It was all white except its beak, eyes and feet which where black. It was quite cute and i'd never seen one before. It then did something rather unexpected.
"Myra!" It's me, Sasha!" the little bird chirped with a human voice and then proceeded to jump on to me.
"Sasha?"
"Yes, yes! I'm so glad it's you! Where are we?" the bird Sasha asked.
"Were apparently in The Ice Lands and why are you a bird?" I asked, wondering why.
"Ice lands?" she chirped confused. "And I have no idea why! Well why aren't you a bird?!"
"No idea either. It's a whole mystery to me." I said while giggling slightly. It was kind of funny that she was a bird. Although it didn't occur to me that her being a bird was quite a big problem.
Tobi stood in view for Sasha to see and she instantly jumped out of my hands and on to Tobi's feet.
"You!" she chirped angrily."What did you do to me? What happened?!" she pecked in anger at his shoe covered feet, barely hurting him at all.
"Hey, I didn't do anything to you! Something odd must have happened when you went through the portal. The ice queen can be pretty cheeky sometimes and try's to have some fun whenever she can. It can get boring down here you know."
"WHAT?!" Sasha and I said at the same time. "Ice queen?" I asked uncertain of what I just heard. Well I really shouldn't be surprised any more, considering Sasha turned into a bird and that were even here in the first place.
"Yes, Ice queen." Tobi said. "I haven't seen her in a while either."
"So you know her then?" I asked.
"Well, yeah. I do kind of work for her in a way." Tobi said this as if it were normal as can be.
"How do you work for her exactly?"
"It's a long story, maybe i'll tell you later." He said as he shrugged of the question. He kind of seemed uncomfortable from this question. Did he not like working for her?
Tobi continued to walk down the icy cave hallways and I ran after him with bird Sasha in my hands.
"Where are we going?" Asked Sasha in her small bird voice."And you better turn me back, by the way."she added with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Im trying to find the Queen's room. It's pretty hard to find it. She changes the route every time." He then turned back to look at Sasha. "I promise to change you back, but only the Ice queen can do that." Sasha huffed and flicked her wings.
At last we came to a part of the ice cave with what seemed to be another tunnel, three in fact, on a wall. Only this time, it was made of ice and looked more like water slides.
"Not another never ending hole." Sasha groaned and placed her wings over her eyes.
"Actually, not this time." He grinned. "It's more of a slide tunnel. They're super fun."
So they where slides! I thought happily.
"Why is there three slides then?" I asked, curious why there was three of them.
"I don't really know. Its all sort of a maze and guessing game down here. I guess we'll have to try going down all them to find out."
Neither Sasha or I like the idea of splitting up again and exchanged worried glances.
"Come on, we'll all try a different one each." He said as he sat down in one of the tubes of ice.
"But, what if we can't find each other afterwards?" I said with worry. "Can't Sasha and I just go down one together?"
"Well, you could try I guess." He said shrugging. "While you figure that out i'll be down heeeere!" At the end of his sentence he pushed himself down the ice slide and disappeared. It actually looked like fun.
Sasha and I tried going down one slide together with her little bird self on my lap but for some reason I just couldn't get in. It was like there was some force field or something.
"What's wrong?" Sasha asked, standing at the top of the slide. "Can you not get in?"
"I don't think so." I said with disappointment. "You go on, I'll try the other slide instead."
"Okay, I guess. Let's slide together. I can wait for you."
I sat in he next slide, right next to the one Sasha was in. "Ready?" I called out, slightly nervous with excitement. "Go!"I heard Sasha's voice echo and I pushed myself down the slide.
I yelped with surprise at how fast I was going. The slide dipped almost immediately and It swooped and swerved. I screamed at how fun it was. It was like a roller coaster, only better. The slide-i-ness of the ice made me speed up even quicker and i could barely tell what way i was turning anymore. It was a heck of a lot better than going down the portal.
The slide then became more flat and i slowed down slightly then popped out of it into a pile of fluffy fresh snow.
I wish I could do that all the time.
Hey everyone! I hope your liking my little story here. I'm defiantly enjoying writing it! So, I meant to publish this a few days ago but I thought I was going to add more to the chapter. I then thought that if I were to add more it would be too long. So, sorry about the abrupt ending. Hopefully the next chapter ending will be better. Anyway, thank you so much for reading and if you could leave a comment or suggestion (or whatnot) that would mean so much to me! Thanks! Have a wonderful day!
