When I opened the classroom door I expected that everyone would notice us from interrupting their winter festival activity, but I was mistaken. In fact no one seemed to even look our way or notice at all. There was only a few students scattered around the room chatting or helping set up. Where was everybody? The festival should have started by now.
We all shuffled our way inside and I scanned the room for Mrs.Meer and Mme.Leroux. Maybe they would explain what was going on. Hopefully they wouldn't be too upset about us being so late. From the looks of it, it didn't seem like they would if the festival hadn't even started.
"Uh, Mrs.Meer?" I said hesitantly and she turned away from Mme.Leroux to face me.
"Myra, Sasha!" She beamed. "Your back already. Good work on setting up outdoors. You must be cold."
"Hasn't the festival started yet? We were actually gone for a while." I asked, still quite confused.
"What? No, of course it hasn't started yet. We still have about twenty minutes or so left until everyone arrives." She informed us."You actually didn't take much time at all so how about you two warm up for a while. Your free to have some hot chocolate too." She pointed to a table with a white sheet over it with a kettle and cups set up for drinks.
"Um, thank you." I mumbled still dumbstruck with confusion. I swear we were gone for an hour at least! It couldn't possibly have taken us that short of a time to get back up here.
"And thank you for volunteering to help girls." She smiled once again and then her eyes looked over our shoulders to where Tobi was standing, or more like spinning around in one spot. He seemed absolutely fascinated by the classroom.
"Who's that there?" Mrs.Meer said softly.
"Oh, that's Tobi." I said. "We sort of found him and thought he might like to join the festival."
Sasha added to the backstory, "He's already on break at his school, and he had nothing to do."
"It's okay that he joins us, right?" I asked hesitantly .
"Sure! Why not. The more, the merrier!" She answered back cheerily. I knew she would say yes, I thought. "It's nice to have you here Tobi." She said and nodded to him.
"Great! Thank you so much!"Tobi said back, with a huge grin on his face. Mrs.Meer then returned back to Mme.Leroux and began to discuss once more.
"So this is what a school is like." he said as he looked around again.
"Well, part of it anyway." Said Sasha as she made her way towards the hot chocolate table. We followed and poured ourselves some hot cocoa.
"So anyone wondering why it's basically the same time it was like an hour ago?" Sasha said and took a sip of her drink.
"Yeah, I'v been wondering that too! It's so weird." I said to her as I rested by the table with a warm cup of hot chocolate, steaming in my hand.
"Oh right!" Tobi said and smacked his forhead, causing his cup of hot chocolate to slosh around. "I forgot to tell you; time doesn't pass, down in the Icelands. That's why its almost the same time it was a while ago here."
"And you didn't tell us that before?!" Said Sasha, clearly annoyed.
"Sorry, I forgot." Tobi said and smiled weakly.
"Well that explains a lot of things." I said and Tobi took a sip of his hot chocolate. His eyes lit up as he drunk it.
"Oh my Snow! This is the best thing i'v ever tasted!" He yelled loudly, which gained him some strange looks from the others in the class.
