Lyle Cambridge ran his fingers through his dirty blonde hair as he looked over at the calendar hanging in the garage. The date read July 28th and it was hard to believe that in just a few days, July would be over and school would be starting back again.
Since he had decided to drop out of college a semester ago, he was slightly relieved that he didn’t have to worry about registering for classes this fall or going to three-a-days for football. Even though he played the part, he hated that life, and only did it because his father practically forced him to. But now that his father had left his mother and was living with his new girlfriend in Colorado, he was finished with caring about what his father thought.
But leaving college had brought him back here to his hometown, Harland, Virginia. While he had coasted through the summer visiting his family in Miami, Florida, that time had come to an end now, and he’d have to face the harsh reality of moving back to good old Harland and trying to figure out where he belonged, once again.
