Justin's POV

"Justin?" Sophie's voice rang through my head pulling me out of the daydream I was in. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts and coming back to reality.

"Huh?" I looked at her. I tried to hide the fact that I was falling for her. I couldn't have her know. She was in a relationship with some shit show but somehow she loved him and I wasn't going to get in the way of that.

"You said, and I quote, 'Shit, I have to tell Sophie.'" She just stood there, shifting all her weight to her right hip. Her arms were tangled and she raised her eyebrow waiting for me to tell her everything.

"Oh, well, when I stormed out of the kitchen I came up here-"

"Obviously." She let out a little chuckle, "What did you need to tell me so badly?"

"Wow, would you wait! I'm getting there!" I said giving her a little push hoping that she'd fall over. I know I was faling for her, but Sophie was my best friend, I needed to at least act like I wasn't going crazy for her.

She rolled her eyes at me. "Okay, continue."

"Well, as I was saying before I was so RUDELY interupted, I came up here and I heard Tyler outside talking to someone and I thought it was you so I went over to the window and he was on his cell phone. And Sophie, he was saying some pretty weird shit..." I looked at her face and she didn't look like anything phased her.

"What kind of weird shit?" She said emotionless.

I scratched the back of my head nervously, "He was saying stuff like 'she's starting to trust me more' and 'if I don't get my money the next visit something's gonna happen'." She nodded her head along to my sentences with the same expresionless face.

"Is that it?" She said without a problem.

"Uh, yeah? I thought you would be more upset about this. This guy is trying to get dirt on you for no reason. Aren't you at least curious why?" I was so confused why she was so nonchalant about this. I would have been furious. My last encounters with paparazzi weren't the best and all they wanted were pictures. This guy was digging up real dirt in her life and it didn't even matter to her.

"No, actually Justin I'm not. I really don't care about what's going on. I'm just going to go down stairs and  tell him I know what's going on and that he needs to leave."

"Wait, Sophie. What's going on here? Why are you so okay with this?!" I knew I didn't like this guy but he can't just come into Sophie's life, into my house and pretend like he gives a shit. I might not want to interfere with Sophie and her boyfriend but I'm definitely not going to just sit back and watch as this guy walk right through her life without a problem.

"Justin." She began. I could see hurt in her eyes. She looked up at me as if she was tired. Not physically, but as if we was drained from trying. She blinked slowly, savoring the moments where she didn't have to deal with reality. "Nothing's going on here. And I'm not okay with this but what do you want me to do?" Her body went lifeless, as she turned around to walk out my bedroom door and confront someone she had just met. She had no idea what he was capable of or what he would do or say to get her to trust him.

"I don't understand. What happened to my friend that would snoop around to figure out what this guy was doing or would play him back and give him a ton of wrong information just to make him look like a dumbass? What about my friend that would exploit him for what he really is? Where did that Sophie go?!" I was getting too upset. Sophie was done with everything in her life. And I felt real pain that I couldn't fix her.

"She's gone Justin." She looked back at me with those dark, sad eyes. "That's what pain does. It changes people. Your friend Sophie isn't coming back." And with that being said, she was gone leaving me in my room alone.

It took some time for me to realize that what I really needed to do was go down stairs, find Sophie and back her up against this lunatic. She didn't know what she was getting herself into and I couldn't let her go at it alone. I've already let her deal with too many things by herself.

I ran down the stairs and ran past my living room only to double take who was sitting on my couch. Sophie was sitting there craddled up with her knees to her chest again. She always did that when she felt vulnerable. I always noticed that slightest things about her and her apperance but I could never make it so obvious or she'd suspect something. I walked over to her and rubbed her back making sure she knew that she was safe with me. She looked up at me with those big green eyes, the ones I always got lost in no matter how many times I'd seen them. She bit down on her lip, indicating that she was nervous. I nodded my head along and cooed "Shh" in her ear while she fell into my lap. She was broken, torn into pieces by more than one person. At that moment, I made it was my job to make sure nothing ever hurts her again and that included getting Tyler the fuck out of her life. She pushed herself up and I rubbed her forehead before kissing it gently in a friendly mannor. She blushed slightly and she knew what she had to do.

She walked to the door in my kitchen and as she placed her hand on the door handle she looked back. I stood there with my shoulders back so she knew that I was right by her side. I winked at her and she smiled to herself. God, I loved that smile.

She pushed the door open and Tyler was laying on one of my lounge chairs by the pool. He had his hands behind his head and his ankles crossed. Disgust was written all over my face and I hoped he caught on.

"Beautiful night isn't it?" He said. I wanted so badly to beat him up; throw a couple punches until he told me what he was doing here.

"Tyler, give it a rest. We know what you're doing here." I said as I watched Tyler try to keep calm.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He said shifting his attention back to the stars.

"Give it up asshole, I heard you on your cellphone." I couldn't stand this guy anymore. I just wanted him to leave.

"Tyler, he told me everything that you said." Sophie said quitely. Her voice was shaky and lacking confidence. Tyler suddenly thrusted himself foward, scared.

"You don't understand though. I never meant to hurt you. Actually come to think of it, I'm not hurting you at all. I need this money and it was the only thing that was paying enough for me to come to LA and persue an acting career." He said as if he was about to get down to his knees and beg that we didn't tell anyone. I still didn't understand who he was on the phone with and what that person wanted but I was going to find out.

"Tyler, stop it. I don't want to hear anything you have to stay. I just want you out." Sophie still didn't asert herself and I was willing to do that for her.

"But, I can't! If I don't get this money than I'll be screwed for LA! I won't have anywhere to stay!" Tyler was screaming.

"Seriously bro, I don't give a fuck about your life and neither does she. I want you out of my house now before I have to go call the cops."

"Okay, okay, fine." He said walking towards the door. "It just sucks that Mr. Pyatt wont be getting the information he's looking for." Tyler's smirk grew across his face.

"Did you just say Mr. Pyatt?" Sophie said stuttering.

"That's right sweetheart, I'm here because your daddy is paying me to be here."
