No ones POV
It was exactly 4:30 when Sophie decided to move from Justin's warm bed. She had watched the small red numbers shift as it went from :29 to :30. It took every ounce of her to force herself out of bed and go downstairs and sit in the kitchen. Sophie looked over at Justin who was dreaming away. His eyelids fluttered as a quiet snore escaped from his parted lips. She had wished that staying asleep was that easy for her. But she dealt with insomnia every now and then and tonight it was hitting her harder than ever. She slowly crept her way out of his room and down the stairs without making a single noise. She felt proud of herself that she didn't wake Justin up because back home she had woken her mom every time. As she made her way down the steps, she thought about her recent desicions. Was sending Tyler away the right choice? He had went behind her back for her father. Father. She cringed at the word for she did not have a real father and she desperately wanted one. She removed a chair from the kitchen table and climbed her way to the seat. Still thinking about Tyler, Sophie began to second guess herself. Maybe she shouldn't have been so quick to judge Tyler. He was only doing it because he was getting paid, not because he got pleasure out of her pain. But then again, she couldn't be so sure. The thoughts wracked her brain and her head started to hurt from thinking too much. Just thinking of her father made her upset. Sophie could feel the tears starting to build up again. She hadn't been at Justin's house for an entire day and she had already cried twice. She cursed herself for being so stupid, so vulnerable. Just a single tear began to fall, those muscular arms she loved were wrapped around her upper body. She shifted herself to see Justin, barely awake, comforting her. She questioned him.
"What are you doing here?"
"I woke up and couldn't find you, so I came downstairs." He said slowly, obviously he wasn't fully conscious.
"That's cute." She said scruffing up his already messy hair.
"You're cute." He said yawning. Sophie giggled to herself and shook her head.
"C'mon, lets go back to bed." Justin said giving her a little nudge.
"I'll be up there in a second." Sophie said transfering her attention back to the kitchen counter where she was previously thinking.
"Well if you're only going to be a second, then I'll wait for you." Justin said pulling over a chair next to his best friend.
"No, Justin, you're basically sleeping, go back to bed." Sophie said patting her hand on top of his.
Justin refused to move. He knew that when Sophie was upset about something, she always had a hard time sleeping and he would never leave her alone in this kind of mental state.
"No. Soph, I know why you're down here and I want you to come lay down with me okay? We'll talk about whatever you want." Justin said gently. He knew not to push any buttons or else he would send her over the edge.
"And what if I don't wanna talk?" She questioned him.
"Then we won't talk. We'll just lay down and be silent." He reassured her. Sophie agreed and walked back to Justin's room with him by her side.
They both laid down in his bed and just like Sophie wanted, they didn't talk at all. Justin just laid next to her and held her hand. When their fingers intertwined, Sophie's eyes met Justin's and for the first time in a very long time, Justin had witnessed a real smile.
"Justin?" Sophie asked making sure that he was still awake.
"Hm?" He said passing her test.
"Can we talk now? I'm kinda bored."
"Of course. What do you wanna talk about?"
"Everything." And with that one word, Justin and Sophie talked nonstop. They discussed everything from hockey, to previous boyfriend and girlfriends. They shared laughs that they haven't heard in a long time. They even shared a couple of funny stories about their friends. Time passed by and before they knew it, it was already 6 oclock.
