“Sophi, you ready to go home?” my mom asked.

I popped an eyebrow “Millwood home?” I asked cautiously

“We leave on Saturday,” my mom informed me.

“Can I go swimming when we get back?” I asked

“Yeah, I have a talk in Spokane so I have to make a new speech.” My mom said waving me off. I stuffed my headphone back in my ears and we left. The limo ride was short and sweet. When I got home I had a new text.

Arthur: Hey, you coming back anytime soon?

Sophi: Saturday.

Arthur: Bleck, you get the homework done?

Sophi: What do you think? Haha ;)

Arthur: Of course you did it.

Sophi: Yep! Well I’m gonna go swimming with some hot guys! ;)

Arthur: Are you cheating on me?!

Sophi: I can’t cheat on someone who won’t ask me out. I set my phone down not wanting to talk anymore. After a moment’s hesitation I picked my phone back up but ignored the new message and started to make a fresh one.

Sophi: Hey Bennett, You wanna go swimming? Lake’s nice today. It took a few minutes for him to reply normally, so I slipped into my dark navy bikini and a sundress over it.

Bennett: Duh! Of course I wanna go! Meet ya down there in five?

Sophi: That fast?

Bennett: I was about to text you when I got your message asking the same question so yep.

Sophi: Okay, see ya. I slipped my phone into a blue beach bag along with some suntan lotion, a water bottle, and a towel.

“Hey mom I’m going to meet Bennett at the lake! See you later!” I yelled as I walked out the door. I heard her yell okay back before the door shut behind me. I realized I had forgotten to grab some shoes but I didn’t feel like going back in so I wiggled my toes and shrugged. I walked around the back of the house to where a staircase led down the the lake. I began the trek down to the beach.

“You’re late,” a husky voice said sarcastically.

“It’s a long set of stairs.” I defended, turning around to face a sixteen year old guy with the typical California features. Light shaggy blonde hair, bright sparkling blue eyes, and a surfer’s body.

“So when do you leave?” Bennett asked. I started to answer but I noticed what was tethered to my dock.
