Jason pov
"Ah.. may I ask, who are you?." Bree asked. I couldnt believe it was her. I felt like i was looking at a ghost. It felt like all my breath had been taken away. The disbelief taking over me, preventing me from speaking.
"Who are you." Bree repeated with more force. I am a trained soldier. We learn to hide our emotions, but this was a stronger feeling than I could have ever imagined. Bree looked over at chase then back at me.
"This is jason. He was at the base with me." Chase answered for me. I slowly walked over to her. I had the need for proof, to know she was really standing there. She took a slight step back. I was about to reach out my hand to touch her arm. When i pulled away in fear. Worried that i could lose her again. The only family I have. Instead I redirected my hand into my pocket. Most soldiers carried a photo of loved ones with them. It's what helped us in believe we can make it through the next battle. To know that you cant lose focus for even a second. Although my photo is old, it's the only one I have. I pulled out the picture and handed it to her.
"Look at it..... Do you remember anything. " I whispered.
Bree's pov
This guy just appears in our living room. Some how knows my last name, one in which i only just recently found out about. I am just so confused. And a little creeped out. He reached his hand out to me but then pulled back. I just stayed silent. Not really sure of what to do. He then reached his hand into his pocket. I was nervous as to what he was going to pull out. It could be a weapon. Maybe he was looking for me to kill me. But then I saw a small piece of paper grasped with his fingers. Relief taking over me allowing my shoulders to drop slightly. He held it up to me.
"Look at it..... do you remember anything." He whispered. I looked up at his eyes and then down at the paper. It was a photograph of a family. I'm guessing his family. I was still confused as to why he was showing me this.
"Is this your family" I asked trying to figure out the point of all this.
"Look at it again. They say a child never forgets their parents faces." I burrowed my eyebrows at his comment and looked back down at the image. I looked at the adults. Studying their faces. My head started to hurt. It felt like my mind was trying to search for lost files but couldn't quite find them.
"Goodnight sweetie"
"Goodnight moma""Daddy no"
"I love you sweetheart""Mommy wake up....please mom"
I sniffed wiping away a tear that had fallen down my face.
"Is that me" I asked gesturing to the little girl that was in her mother's arms. He never answered. But he didnt really need to. I softly sat down on the couch. I slightly looked up at him then back at the picture. There was a young boy that was holding onto his father's leg.
"It's you" i whispered. It was him. In the picture. I was trying to find a way to stop the tears that were fighting to fall. Sniffing every now and then. I don't even know what to say. All I could do was keep my eyes lock on the picture. I felt like i was looking at a life in a parallel universe. With all the scenarios running through my head. My parents dropping me off at my first day of school. Long car trips with the family. My brother and i messing around in the back seat. Flashes of a whole other world. Where I would invite my friends over after school. Making plans for the weekend.
Staring at the picture that's real. It was giving me a new perspective on everything. On what was almost my life. Don't get me wrong, I love my life now. it's just the thought of it all that hurts. The feeling inside of me that always wished i was normal. It was all feeling so real now.Jason squatted down infront of me.
"I miss them....But you know what, i have you now. After all these years thinking I was all the family I had.....I've found you. All because fate left me a clue."Hey guys i am so so so sorry for the long wait but school and life has been hectic lately. Senor years. I also have half yearly exams in a few weeks. But i managed to update one chapter.
I hope you enjoyed it.
