Jason's pov

I kept my gaze on the image in my hand until carefully placing it down on the shelf. I looked at myself in the mirror just above the shelf. A small smile appeared on my face. Something that hadn't been there for a long time. The Davenports allowed me to stay in one of the guest bedrooms for the night. I heard a knock on the door, causing me to jump.

"Sorry i didnt mean to startle you" bree spoke carmly.

"No its okay. After being in the millitary for 5 years, your always still a bit on edge." I explained taking a seat on the edge of my bed. Bree looked over to the shelf and then down at the floor.

"How?" She whispered still keeping her gaze on the carpet.

"How what?" i asked confused

"How are you here?....the fire." She explained finally looking up in my direction. I nodded realizing what she was talking about. I stood up and walked over to her. I put a hand on her shoulder.

"It was a long trip getting here and im pretty tired. Ill explain it to you tomorrow?" I pleaded. She let out a small smile and nodded.
I pulled her into a hug and whisered "im so glad i found you." As i pulled away i saw her eyeing my photo across the room. I went over and picked it up. I took another look at it and then handed it to her.

"Here"

"Oh no i cant take that from you."

" please take it." I insisted. She took it from my hand and smiled. She began to walk ouf of the room until she stopped in the doorway.

"I almost fofgot. The reason i camd up here was to let you know that dinner was ready if you wanted somsthing to eat." She offered as she turned around to face me once again.

"No thats okay. I think im just going to get some rest. Thanks though." And with that she left the room. I plopped down on my bed. It was time to get some sleep.
