Kaelynn, Demi, Jasmine, and Aug in MM.

Enjoooy.

Kaelynn Katrina La'Rose.

"Demise lets go I'm going to be late!" I called out to my five year old daughter. It was three o'clock and I had to be at work at three fifteen and the ride to work was 25 minutes, if we're speaking truthfully I cannot afford to be late. Again.

"Mommy I can't find my shoes!" She shouted back from the top of the staircase.

Feeling my eyes well up with tears I threw my bag on the floor running up the stairs to find Demi's slides. Though it took a minute to find them, they were found. "Go get in the car and put your seat belt on. Now."

"Bu-"

"Demise." I warned through gritted teeth. Without saying a word she lowered her head and walked out. Right behind her I made sure to lock the door as we made our way to the car.

"Your late again, Kay." Mia greets.

"I know, I'm sorry Demi wouldn't get dressed quick enough." I sigh.

"Hurry up and get these customers orders, they've been waiting for almost 15 minutes." She shouts making me stumble a bit.

Sighing I put my apron on and grab my notepad and pen walking over to the first table. "Welcome to Mia's I'm Kaeylnn your waitress for this evening, can I start you off with refreshments?"

"No we want to jump right into the meal, please." An older white lady that looked to be in her 40's replied.

"Ok, do you know what you'd like yet?"

"Yes may I have the 10 piece fried chicken wings?" She smiles brightly. Her days going well.

"Yes you may, and would you like any sides or would that be it?" I asked returning the smile, although my day is probably not going as great as hers.

"Yes, I want a side of fries and coleslaw. Oh and I want a glass of lemonade please."

With that I nodded and went to the back to give Mia the order. Quickly taking it from me she shooed me away, telling me to go get the rest of the orders.

Before I could go out back I spotted Demi in Mia's office playing with Mia's oldest daughter Ebony. She reminds me so much of myself when I was 16, which makes me smile a lot when I see her.

"Kaelynn if I have to come out there!"

Oops.

"All done." I say as I fall back on one of the sofa's in the back.

"Today was long as hell. You good?" My coworker and roommate Jasmine asks. "Yea just tired, I don't even feel like driving home tonight."

"Yea, well you know Mia. She won't let us stay here a minute longer so let's go home."

"Can you go get Demi from upstairs with Ebony while I go clock us out." She nods and did as asked as I clock us out and wash my hands.
