Nick opened his eyes instantly when the lights flicked on, he sat up on his bed and looked across where Nate should be, instead his bed was a mess of tangled sheets and no little boy laid there, his gaze trailed away to the door and there he was.
Around him, toys and action figures scattered across the floor, Nate had used them to aim at the light switch that was too high for him to reach, he finally succeed after he picked up a bright red block and threw it at the switch, he's now standing in the illuminated room, slowly he turned his little back around and stared at his twin.
"Nate?" Nick's little voice squeaked "What are you doing?"
His twin didn't reply, instead he strode over to the beds, a dark look in his eyes. "Why aren't you asleep?" Nick tried again; he clutched his stuffed bear in his tiny palms.
"You better be quiet or you'll wake Mom and Dad," Nate warned.
"Why did you turn the lights on?" He whispered, somehow avoiding Nate's eye contact and keeping his gaze on Nate's moon and stars pajamas, Nick's was the same except his was light blue while Nate's dark blue pair matched the dark look in his eyes.
"You have to be careful next time you want to be a weirdo," He said slowly "Don't be a weirdo at my playground."
"The playground isn't yours," Retorted Nick "It doesn't belong to anyone."
"Shut up!" Nate snapped, he didn't like when his smarter brother talked back to him "Weirdo's like you don't belong in my playground! Weirdo's like you are weird and I don't like you, my friends don't like you!"
In his mind Nick replayed the event earlier that day when Nate and his friends bullied him and mocked him, he shrunk in his little bed and clutched his bear tighter. "I'm sorry I made you don't like me," He said in a tiny voice.
"You embarrass me in front of everyone!" Nate hissed, careful to keep his voice down "Now everyone knows how much of a freak my twin is, they think I'm just like you!"
"I didn't mean to," Nick replied, his voice shook when Nate stood right next to his bed "I won't bother you and your friends, me and Sam will find another playground, promise!"
"No, Nick! Not you and Sam! Just you!" He growled, with a pull he brought Nick to his feet, Nick winched at the pain.
"But he's my best friend!"
"Really? Well did your best friend help you today when you got beaten up?!"
Nick's face dropped, and Nate smiled in triumph. "He was scared!" Nick defended.
"No! Sam didn't help you because Sam isn't real!" Nate yelled this time and Nick shook his head violently, he was about to protest but Nate had gave him a shove, and he fell to the floor with a thud.
"Sam is real! His family moved from Texas, and he lives in the big brown house on Palm Street! His hair is blond and he's my best friend!"
Nate squeezed his twin's arm in a violent Indian burn, sending Nick into a scream. "No. He. Isn't!" Nate replied angrily, he then pinned Nick down on the floor and twisted his arm behind his back, Nick screamed louder in pain.
"You're a crazy weirdo, Nick! Sam isn't real and you need to stop!"
"Let go of me! Sam is real! Get off me, Nate!"
"No!" He yelled and got up from Nick, he then kicked his twin in the stomach when he rolled to his back, Nick screamed again. "Crazies like you should be in the crazy house!"
"I'm not crazy! You're hurting me!" He started to cry, he could barely breathe when Nate sat down on his stomach and crushed his twin's body, the two boys were screaming loudly, Nick in pain and Nate in anger, when he was about to wrap his hands around Nick's neck, the door flew open and their parents rushed in.
