Demons and Demi-gods... Huzzah!

A week after Izzy flipped, everything was around about normal, well, as normal as it could get in a public school full of supernatural beings.

Izzy had very much calmed down, she had taken the week off just to be sure nothing happened. I and Karen had to run school and homework to her everyday after school, to ensure that she didn't fall behind, although she insisted that we not do it. She didn't want to do work, she was lazy afterall!

Karen was coping very well with learning that she was a demon. Her boyfriend on the otherhand, kinda got a bit scared, now knowing that his girlfriend was could potentially more powerful than him! He had taken a shine to it though, sticking with her through it. I was impressed.

Karen still hadn't told her parents, fearing that they would freak, even though we told her otherwise. Karen never told her parents much about her life in school, or anything personal really.

For me, things had recessed once again into the dull throb of school. My work load had increased since it was the middle of the school year, with our exams drawing painfully nearer. I dreaded my history exam, it was one of the longest, with it being two and a half hours. Two. And a half. Bloody. Hours. Luckily, revision was simple, just lots and reading writing. Simple, but hell.

At this moment in time I was staring at a two hundred page History textbook, drilling facts about the Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression into my head. The way I tend to revise was having a video on in the background. In this case, it was a let's play youtuber called SlyFoxHound. His hyper style of gameplay and his slight spanish made me giggle, he reminded me a little of Karen when she was hyper, but also Spanish.

Anyways, I was watching Sly and drill reading when my phone buzzed.

it was a text from Karen. Think of the devil, or Demon, I should really say.

The text read "hey, something really crazy is happening round here, already called George and Izzy, this shit is trippy! x"

With an eyebrow slightly raised I texted back: "Haha, okay, although this has to be pretty crazy considering what's happened recently!!! xx"

A quick pleading to my mum (puppy eyes optional) later and I found myself sitting in Karens livingroom ,sipping on a coke. George was there too, he had been round when the "weird" thing happened.

"Well" I asked "Whats the crack?"

Karen just looked at George "Show her" she said.

George clicked his fingers and screwed his eyes tightly shut, it looked like he was in pain. Then, suddenly, a ball of emerald light shot out of his hand, hitting one of the walls, seeming to be absorbed into the surface.

After what seemed like a minute, the wall itself began to glow green, slowly crumbling away, brick by brick, leaving a pitch black hole, it was kinda like the first Diagon Alley scene from the first Harry Potter film. Sometimes I wonder if they will make a film or book series with characters like us?

10 minutes later, and there was a man sized hole in the wall. I looked at Karen abit optimistically. Jumping through random portals into the unknown weren't really my cup of tea, I would honestly prefer a nice cup of tea, but let's not get off topic here! George stepped forward and popped his head through the gap. His entire head disappeared into it, and Karen gasped in shock when he pulled back out, his hair was slightly singed..

"Its abit hot in there" he said, trying not to smirk. Karen just rolled her eyes, already having gotten used to her boyfriends bad jokes.

"You wanna go in?" he continued, looking between the two of us.

"Hell yeah, why not? Sounds slightly worse than the waiting room I was in but whatever!!" Karen replied slightly more enthusiastic than I though she would have.

George must've noticed the uncomfortable look on my face, because he hastily added:

" Of course, you don't have to come, we can just wait until it closes, don't worry!"

"Yeah, but what if we trapped there? What if our parents start to wonder where their beloved children have gone missing?" I shot back, still unsure "although to be honest I don't think they or the terrible twosome would miss me" I added, with a cheeky grin.

George turned back to the gaping hole, took several deep breaths, then jumped through, the darkness swallowing him whole.

He poked his head out, I have to say the sight was slightly disconcerting.

"You coming?" he teased, before popping his head back in again.

"Well, no point standing here doing nothing" Karen said, moving gingerly over to the portal before slowly edging her way through it. "This is really wei-" she started to say before the darkness swallowed her up.

I sighed, giving into peer pressure against my commen sense, I took a couple of steps back, ran, and jumped through the portal...

Then suddenly I was falling. Hot air buffeting and dust struck my face, disorientating me and making me close my eyes against the irritation.

Something hit my midrif and I was on the ground, which felt sandy beneath me, my heart pounding in my ears, my breathing ragged.

Through the haze I saw Karen and George standing over me, both with soot smeared faces and looking a little out of breath. George held out a hand and I greatfully grabbed it, pulling me to my feet. I was a little dizzy but managed to keep my footing. I uneasily looked around, taking in the sight around me.

We were standing on high. The ground, which wasn't really ground I just realised. it was molten lava. Dotted around, were islands of jagged dark red stone, some of them even larger than the stack we were on. Soot and ash fell from the grey sky, dark shapes, which could be clouds, drifted above.

I turned and saw the portal begining to close.

"Shit!" I said, and started running towards it at full pelt, still struggling to find footing on the soft ground with George and Karen just a few paces behind me. Within a few meters of it, I tripped, sprawling face first into the soot and ash, my mouth and nose filling with the stuff, making me cough and splutter. The green light of the portal pulsed brightly three times before vanishing.

The portal between realities had closed.

We were trapped.

In a hellish landscape.

Unabke to return home.
