"This can so not be legal."

We were standing on the roof of the Empire State Building. It was around 3 maybe even 4, so the sun was beginig to set, painting the sky beautiful shades of pink and purple. Alex reached his hand towards me, guiding me to the egde of the enormously tall sky scraper.

"It really isn't, but I come up here all the time. We won't get caught, Darling." He looked at me for a moment, then back to the sky. I finally determined his eye color. If you take the breath taking blues of the Mediterranean Sea, and combine it with the beautiful browns and greens of the Amazing Rainforest, you would still not be able to come close to luminous effect of his eyes. They were something utterly indescribable. I found myself looking at them more than the masterpiece in front of me, they were masterpieces of their own. He glanced at me and I averted my eyes quickly.

"I brought you up here to see the sunset. If I would've known you were going to watch me the whole time I wouldn't have." I honestly thought he was serious, until he smiled shyly and looked into my eyes.

"I'm sorry," I replied bashfully, " Its just your eyes.... They're incredible." I looked down as I fiddled with my thumbs.

" Don't apologize, Love." He used his hand to bring my head up, meeting his gaze. "You can stare into them for as long as you'd like." I smiled slightly and he began looking into the distance. The beauty that is the Earth returning to its natural state, losing the light of a giant star that illuminates our dying planet. I understand why some people like it. The colors obviously, it is beautiful, but if you haven't noticed I like to think of things differently. I wonder what Alex thinks of them, if he thinks more stereotypical, or like me, questions every aspect of life without even trying.

"Alex?" I hear a slight 'hmm' beckoning me to continue. "Why do you come up here?" I hope that isn't prying.

"Well, its away from existence. Nobody knows that you're up here, or that you exist, even for a moment. You can be alone and enjoy a beautiful view while you're at it." He looked at me and smiled, I looked towards my hands yet again as I felt blood rush to my face. He laughed. "The sunset only makes the view I have right now better, and I honestly didn't know that was possible." This boy is not good for my health. He's just being friendly.

"You're quite the charmer, I'm surprised a girl hasn't snatched you up by now." It was starting to get cold. I'm not so sure how long we've been up here but it was almost dark now. He must've noticed, because he wrapped his jacket around me as he stood up.

"The right girl hasn't tried yet, but I'm hoping she will soon, after today." He's made me look like a tomato at least 9 times within the short time we've been together. He helped me to my feet and guided me once again, to the metal door leading to the many, many, flights of stairs. I must say, all those stairs were totally worth being able to talk to him.

When we reached the bottom, we exited the lobby and were again on the dreadful streets of New York. When you can't hear all the cars and people, and see above all of the buildings, its a beautiful place, other than that, its not. Alex hailed a cab quickly, and helped me in.

"Where do you live? I'll pay." He offered but I quickly declined.

"No, its fine I'll pay myself, you've done enough today."

"Please, I insist. I just don't know where to tell this man to go." The cab driver glanced back at us, awaiting his orders. I gave in, telling Alex where I lived. He then fed the information to the cab driver, and off we were. I don't know what I'm getting myself into....
