My shift was just ending, I decided to skip the cab and just run, it was probably faster anyways. When I got back to the apartment I quickly changed into a short sleeve, white, button up and tucked it into my black pleated skirt. I fixed my makeup, let my curly hair, and slipped on some black converse. Dressy but not too dressy. I figured running in the rain before a date wouldn't get me any brownie points, so I took a cab back. I hate succumbing to the economy. I got there at 11:45a.m., not bad, not bad. I walked back in and sat in one of the corner booths, there aren't too many of them. Eleanor's shift ended when mine did, so she was upset she wouldn't be able to see this. I sat on my phone for a bit until Alex arrived. He had changed too, this time wearing a white T-Shirt, and dark, nicer jeans. No rips this time. He sat down directly across from me.
"So, my dear, do you have a name to go with such a lovely face, or can I continue with 'my dear'?" He spoke softly, due to it being very quiet right about now.
"Mia," speak more you seem illiterate, wait... Why should I worry about that.. "But, uh, you can call me whatever you like." You seemed so sure about that. Real smooth Mia, real smooth.
"Mia..." He paused for a moment, "I like it, a lot, its a beautiful name. Although, don't be too surprised if I stick with my previous choice." I blushed. Stop that you weirdo, this isn't suppose to mean anything. Fun only, I repeat, FUN ONLY.
"So, Mia, what do you do around here? Well, other than work at this terrible establishment." He looked at me, waiting for my response, but I had to idea what to say. What did I do around here? Work, school, home, repeat.
"Well, Alex, if you think this place is so 'terrible', why did you order coffee here this morning? Don't get me wrong, its horrendous, but I'm curious." I changed the subject from his question. What do I do around here....
"You see, my problem is, if there is a beautiful girl behind the counter, I can't help but to buy something to start a conversation." He smiled and blushed. Blushed?? Wait....
" Now dear, tell be a bit about yourself. What do you like to do?" Well...
"Um, I like to watch the rain. That might sound weird, but its calming. I haven't really done much. I've only been here for about a year, and all I've had time for is work and school."
"So, you're telling me you've never really been anywhere, in a year?" I nod in agreement, " Alright then, let's go darling."
He got up and started walking towards the door, I grabbed his arm to stop him before he opened it. When I realized what I did, I removed my hand immediately."What do you mean 'let's go'? I just met you, you could be a psycho serial killing trying to kindap me!" He laughed, then proceeded opening the door and motioned for me to walk ahead of him. Why am I doing this...
"Where are we going?" He got the attention of a cab and held the door open.
"Empire state building."
