song- All I Want by Kodaline
Sonja's POV
I sat in the kitchen with Tom and Jordan when Martha ran into here. She looked worried.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"My mom has just texted me and she said I needed to come back. My dad came home and is saying stuff."
I stood up. I glared and pointed at Tom. "If you touch my food, I will end you."
"Nice."
I grabbed my car keys and quickly walked outside. Martha was already in the passenger side. She was nervously tapping her foot. She rested her arm on the dash. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"It will be okay. I'm sure it's not going to be something bad."
I started the car and began the drive to Martha's house.
After a few minutes, Martha finally spoke.
"It's going to be something bad. I know it. Dad has been very distant for a while then he comes back and tells something that Mom doesn't want to hear. It's bad, Sonj..."
I squeezed her hand again and rubbed my thumb back and forth across her hand.
"I'm here for you."
It went silent again.

When we reached her house, Martha immediately shot out of the car and ran inside. I ran in after her.
I walked to the front door and heard yelling.
"You can't just decide to leave without any reason, Spark! That's stupid!"
"It's my decision, alright!"
I walked inside. Martha stood behind her mom. Spark stood in front of Ianite. Behind Spark was a green haired man I've never seen. He held a little girl against his waist.
Spark glanced at me. "I am not discussing this with her in here."
Martha seemed ticked off. She stomped to me and locked her arm with mine.
"No. Sonja is with me. Say what you were going to say."
Ianite grinned. She walked beside Martha and crossed her arms over her chest. "Go on, Spark."
Spark looked back at the man for help.
"No, Spark. You agreed to go with me. You got yourself into this one."
Spark sighed. "Thanks for the help, Mot." He looked back at Ianite. "I'm leaving with Mot because of everything that has been happening. It's just too much on me, Ianite. It's too much..."
"Why is it too much?! How do you think I feel?" Ianite yelled. Her voice was shaky. She sounded like she was about to cry.
"I know you feel awful."
"I feel more than awful. We have been together for ten years. You've put up with me for ten straight years. If that's not love then what it is?"
"This isn't about our love. I just need time. I will return. I will return for my family."
Ianite started to cry.
I felt a lump form in my throat. This shit was sad.
I looked at Martha. I didn't realize that she was crying. I unlinked our arms and held her hand. She looked at me and smiled sadly.
Mot spoke. "Well, this is getting quite sad, so I'm going to go to the car and cry my ass off."
"Why are you gonna cry?" The little girl asked.
"Like I said. This is getting sad." Mot repeated. He sniffled. "Oh boy." He quickly walked outside.
Spark turned to Martha. "Sweetie, how do you feel about this?"
"I love you, dad, but if you love us, then why are you leaving?"
"I need time. I'm not leaving forever, I promise. Where is Helgrind? I need to speak to him."
Ianite spoke this time. "He's with his girlfriend. I texted him about you and he didn't believe me."
I heard a car horn honk outside.
"I'm guessing that is Mot..." Spark mumbled. He held his arms out to Ianite. She practically ran into his arms. She cried.
Spark gently pushed her off. He kissed Ianite's forehead.
He walked over to Martha and I. Spark held his arms out to hug Martha, but Martha didn't move.
Instead, she rested her head on my shoulder and silently cried. I felt tears sink into my shirt.
Spark looked at me. I crossed my arms over my chest.
He sighed. He waved goodbye and walked outside.
The room stayed silent until the sound of a car driving away could be heard.
Ianite walked upstairs to her room and shut the door. I could hear things being thrown around.
"WHY'D YOU LEAVE?!" Ianite yelled.
"Should we..?"
"No. Leave her be."
I stood in front of Martha. Her eyes were red. Tears fell down her face.
I pulled her into a tight hug. She rested her head on my shoulder and cried.
I rubbed my hand up and down her back. She cried harder.
I started to sing in hopes of calming her down. We slow danced around the room.
Once Martha had finally calmed down, I sang the last verse.
"For I can't help falling in love with you."
