"Hey, you going to Julia Fanning's birthday party?" I looked back and saw Cheska with the twins and Sam. "Yeah, probably" I raised the invitation card I received not too long ago.

"Julia's that Beauty and Brains chick right?" Nate asked. "Yeah, she's in the top ten on the college entrance exam she took. And the president of the sci club" Ches filled in.

We entered at the cafeteria and went to our usual table. "Anyone plan on coming?" Jake asked as he stood up to buy food. Unlike the other schools the food here's pretty decent, a variety of it to choose from.

"Coming." Nate and Cheska stood up from their seats.

"Please buy one for me" Sam placed his money on Nate's hand.

"Why? Dude, do it y--" he started to complain but was cut off "Remember last week when you were walking alon--"

"Okay, okay! Damn." as he was starting to turn red he turned his back and went to the foods, almost stomping. We all looked weirdly at Sam, who looked only nonchalant.

"Okay.. anyways, how about you?" Cheska asked me "You know you have a lot of things you can blackmail me about" she giggled.

"Nah. I'll pass. My break's two hours today, I'll eat later." I said, then they just nodded and went to buy. "What's with that about?" I asked, bemusedly. Sam just shrugged, chuckling.

"Not that. You alright?" I asked. It was just out of his character.

He was silent for awhile, opened his mouth as if to say something and then closed it again.

Then in just a second, he grinned and said, "I'm fine. Nothing to worry about." And patted my head.

"Sam" I say. "Hmm, yes?"

"Are you treating me like a child?" He turned to me and an unexpected laugh came out. It's rare, once again. By rare I mean he usually just smiles at us. So hearing it once in awhile is still unexpected.

"No, no. I'm sorry. I'm really fine, now. Thanks" he said, once again ruffling my hair.

Although, he say that.. something's just not right.

A few minutes later, the others returned with their food. Other than Sam, there was nothing out of the ordinary. As I listen to their stories, I was also making review notes for my History tomorrow. So when I get back home, I'll just review it.

The time passed just like that and one by one they went to their respective classes. I was about to get my food when the basketball team passed by my table.

Brad gave me a nod, a gesture we usually do to say 'Hi'. I thought they would just pass by but then a guy, who must be new here stopped walking and leaned in on the table.

"Hey, I'm Ian. And you are?" he said. I can hear a bit of an accent in his voice, one of which I can't quite point out. "Hey" I just said, as Brad fling an arm around his shoulder.

"Not this girl, man. The school is big" Brad gestured around to prove his point. The guy looked confuse for awhile. "Why?" he asked, and Brad gave a look "I'm just warning you" and he dragged him to their table.

"Aaah Brad. Makes me think you're secretly his little sister." I was startled as Liam came up behind me. "It's a long history." I just said, too lazy to tell the story.
