Chapter 2: Shy or just quiet?

You stop writing notes when the bell rings, signifying Lunch time. You put your note book in your (f/c) backpack and you get up from the seat as all the students rush out to lunch. Looking up, you see Hiyoko's smiling face inches away from yours, you jump back startled as she laughs at your reaction.

"So your (F/n) (L/n), right? The new girl?", she asks after she stopped laughing.

"Uh. Yeah and you are?", you already knew her name but just to be polite you asked and if you just said her name then she would have thought you are some creep.

"Oh! I'm Tosaka Hiyoko! Nice to meet you!", she says while grabbing your right hand, shaking it.

You smile, "Likewise."

"So do you what to hang out with me? I was just about to go to the library to drop off some books I had all summer.", She asks, letting go of your hand.

Your smile widens a little hearing the word library and also the fact the you won't have to be alone. "Yeah, sure!"

After some talking, you find out that Hiyoko was a friendly girl and instantly you knew you two were going to be best friends. You found out that you two had a lot in common so she then said you two are friends. You were happy because at the previous school you went to no one really talked to you. Being the girl that was titled The weird-loner-girl, all because you were quiet and shy. And so your Mom enrolled you here so you could have a fresh start, kinda late it being the second semester but you could handle it being also really smart.

Once you and Hiyoko arrived at the library door, you two entered and you saw that no one was there except for a green haired boy that was reading quietly.

Hiyoko walks up to the counter of the library and turns to you—who was still standing in front of the entrance—and says,"Where is everyone? Aside from the receptionist, there's nobirdie here?"

You walk up to her and shrug, "Well there is one person here."

She then turns to where you are looking at and she sees the boy staring at her-more accurately the books in her arms. 'Woah I love his eyes', you think as you stare at them, they are a orange and red color and are really bright- which reminds you of a sunset.

"Umm...did you want something from me?", Hiyoko asks, taking one step forward.

" ! ", his beautiful sunset eyes widen and he looks away as if he wasn't expecting her to see him.
"...not really.", he then says quietly, still looking away.

You turn to Hiyoko and see her confused face , "Are you sure?"

He looks up at her then replies, "Yes, I don't want anything with you...", he pauses, his eyes shifting over to your form, before going back to Hiyoko. "...it's the things your carrying that I'm interested in."

He glances at the desk, as if to say "hurry up and return then already!"

Hiyoko laughs realizing what he means, "Oh...sorry. Ehehe, they were a little dense and I never finished them.", she says then continues, "Were you waiting for them all summer?"

".........", he silently returns his gaze to his book, 'Huh, maybe he's in a bad mood?'

An awkward silence fills the room so she clears her throat, "I'm Tosaka Hiyoko
A sophomore.
And this is (L/n) (F/n)
Also a sophomore.
What about you?"

"..........", he doesn't reply and just stares, you could even feel the awkwardness thicken.

Hiyoko blinks as her question hangs in the air.
...
She tries again, "Y-you're...?"

"........
Nageki.
Fujishiro Nageki.
Freshman.", he finally replies after some hesitation.

"Hello Nageki.", you greeted him and he glances at you and nods in acknowledgement, his eyes go back to Hiyoko.

"....leave me alone."
He's reading his book again.

Hiyoko then turns to the door after leaving the books to the receptionist, " Okay. Sorry to bother you.", she apologizes and grabs your hand, dragging you out of the library. You glance back to see Nageki staring at the two of you as you leave.

Once out of the library Hiyoko sighs," I keep meeting depressing people today,", she says then you look at her raising your eyebrows and she notices,"Oh! Sorry! Besides you, of course!", she finishes, bringing you in a bone crushing hug.

"H-Hiyo-..ko...! I...can't....breath...!", you mutter, then she lets you go while apologizing as you take deep breaths.

"Phew...It's okay..",you pant, catching your breath.

"Now that I have that out of the way. I think we should head back to class."

You two start walking in the direction of class but Hiyoko stops you by tugging you back, you turn to her in question to see her staring ahead, "Wait, isn't that..."
