Nightwings are Blue

*This is sort of a part 2 to Robins are red.
It's not fear that completly consumed Dick Grayson as he stood in front of the Zeta Beam. It was something worse than fear, it was the feeling of total lost. He knew when Batgirl beamed in he could not do what he wanted to do.

Dick could not hold her, kiss her, and make her feal loved.

He could not whisk her away to a perfect dreamworld where they could be together without distractions.

He could not get down on one knee and ask her to be his and only his forever.

The fimilar computer voice told everyone that Batgirl B16 was here. He looked up thinking he was ready, but nothing could prepare him for what was in front of him.

Eight months. Has it really been eight months? The number flashed through Barbara's mind. It feels like an lifetime has passed. Eight months without her boy wo- no. He stopped being her boy wonder when he hooked up with Zantanna and Rocket and Betty.

When he stoped being Robin he must have stopped loving Batgirl too.

Batgirl walked into the Zeta Beam. Hoping she would wake up from this nightmare and be laying in Dick's arms. Instead, computer announced her arrival. She looked up and couldn't belive her eyes.

Dick didn't think it was possible for Barbara to get more beatiful. He was wrong. She was prefect. Flowing red hair, eyes that seemed to be blue and green at the same time, the warmest smile you had ever seen, laughter that sounded like bells of joy. All of it was there hiding under that cowl, Dick knew that.

He looked so differnt. No, it wasn't just how broad his shoulders looked or the way is hair fell perfectly over his face or how his muscles were practlcally popping out of the black klever suit that looked so amazing on him- Barbara! Focus! It was how serious he looked. No smiling, no goofy smirk, no glint of mischief in his eyes.

"Batgirl."

"Nightwing."

They shook each other's hands like the 'responsible aldults' they were. But something happend. For a split second Barbara smiled at Dick and maybe just maybe, Barbara saw something like a twinkle in his eyes.

Batgirl met all the other team mates and Beast boy offered to give her a tour. She grabbed her duffel and turned around to give one last smile to Nightwing.

Maybe one day she would get her boy wonder back.

Barbara turned around and smiled at Dick. He barely noticed because he was too busy thinking of the fastest way to make Barbara his again.

And this time it would be forever.
