Touka awoke to the sound of her alarm clock practically yelling at her. Her eyes groggily opened and she turned her body so she could hit the alarm clock. "Shut up," she said, slamming her fist on the off button, even though she knew it was stupid to yell at a clock she did it anyway, just like every morning.
She sat up on the edge of her bed before remembering what happened last night. She finally got to spend some time with Kaneki after so long, and even agreeing to meeting up again. The memory was hazy due to her lack of sleep and she was starting to question whether or not it actually happened, but saying it was all just a dream just felt off.
She stood up and quickly got dressed before going down stairs and starting to work. When Touka reached the coffeeshop portion of Anteiku she stood there dazed with sleep for a second before she was snapped back to reality by one of her least favorite people. "Wow Touka, today you somehow managed to look even more angry than you normally do," Nishiki sneered as he walked over to her.
"Oh shut up, you," she harshly elbowed him in the stomach, "I'm just tired, so back off,"
"I guess I was right, you are super angry today, and you didn't have to hit me," he said while Touka merely walked off and started tending to costumers .
~~~~
"Glad that's over," Touka muttered to herself when her shift finally ended. She went up to her room and sat on her bed, looking at her clock: 4:00. She sighed, midnight was a long time away and that's when she and Kaneki agreed to meet again.
She just sat around in her bed for a few minutes before she felt drowsy. "I should take a nap," Touka thought, "I'm going to be up late again." She fully laid down and allowed sleep to over take her.
~~~~
Touka awoke a few hours later. She sat up on her bed and looked out her window to see the setting sun that was there when she fell asleep had now turned into a dark starry night. She glanced at her clock: 8:00. Just four more hours. Touka got out of bed and went off to kill some time.
~~~~
Sitting on her chair Touka checked the clock: 11:50. Perfect. She stood up and excitedly left her apartment. Down the stairs, out the door, across the bridge, and over the roof tops, following the same path she took just last night. She arrived at the area she and Kaneki had last met but he wasn't there. "No big deal, he'll be here any minute." Touka assured herself.
A minute passes and Touka finds out she's right. "Hey Touka-chan," Kaneki waved at her a few feet away and Touka smiled at him.
"Glad you could make it," Touka said in an unusual friendly demeanor as she walked towards him.
She stood in front of Kaneki with a small smile when he unexpectedly pulled her into a hug. Touka blushed at the sudden contact. "I'm glad I could make it too. I almost got caught up in something." Kaneki replied, enjoying the hug before he broke it off quickly not wanting to push his luck. He knew Touka wasn't exceptionally affectionate but he hoped she'd tolerate his hugs, which she did.
"What were you doing?" Touka asked hoping he wasn't out killing people.
"Just talking about somethings with a few members of Aogiri, I almost forgot to check what time it was but luckily I was able to leave the conversation." Kaneki answered.
"Oh, I see," Touka said, having a hard time coming up with anything else to say.
She suddenly felt nervous, as if everything was riding on her finding something to say. She bit her lip and looked at the ground. Kaneki smiled at her, "Adorable." He thought. "So Touka-chan, anything interesting happening at Anteiku?" Kaneki started.
Touka looked back up at him. "Hardly, it's still the same old place. Nothing new." Touka crossed her arms, "At least it still has its nice atmosphere, although Nishiki really doesn't fit in with us. He's so annoying."
"Yeah, I never liked him either." Kaneki grinned at her, and they continued on.
~~~~
They had been talking for awhile but now there had been silence for about a good minute. "Well," Kaneki said, "It was nice spending time with you but it's getting rather late."
"Ah, you're right." Touka looked up at the sky and noticed how much the moon had moved from its original position since they had first arrived.
"I'll see you, whenever I guess." Kaneki said sounding sad at the end because he didn't know when the next time he would get to see her was.
"Kaneki wait," Touka called as he turned away, "Can we make this a thing? Y-you know, meeting up at night." She felt embarrassed asking.
Kaneki turned back towards her and smiled. "Yeah, I'd like that a lot." He was happy he finally had something to look forward to everyday.
Touka turned to walk off, "Great I'll see you tomorrow, then." But before she could leave she felt arms around her.
"Don't go, hug me first." Kaneki blushed at himself, he hardly meant to hug her it just felt so right. She turned around with pink cheeks to return his hug. "Bye, have a good night." She said when to her surprise he kissed her forehead.
Red faced she pulled away from the hug and waved a goodbye before leaving. "Bye Touka-chan." Kaneki called to her while she walked off.
Kaneki hoped he hadn't scared her off with his affections. He liked Touka and only hoped she returned his feelings. However he didn't want to rush things or be to straightforward either, he still had a bit of shyness in him from who he used to be. And with that he returned back to where he stays for the night.
(A/N) I am honestly having a really fun time writing this. I'll probably update more often. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3
