Dear Society #4: Preach and Bitch
Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!
It's been quite a while since I've updated my DEAR work. And it wasn't really about I ran out of idea because honestly, when it comes to rant, there's always something wrong with the world. And it wasn't about me turning over a new leaf to stop ranting and becoming a 'good' person either, because sometimes the reasons you can't be good is caused by the people and society that make you react and dislike them. So as long as those douchebags that treat you wrong is still living, and you're still alive as well, to not rant at all is almost impossible.
So what's your excuse for not updating, RB?
*fidgets*fidgets*guilty*
Alright alright, I'm sorry for making you wait for my updates, thus making you bored without any reading material for you. I was...busy.
Don't scoff at me! I apologize didn't I? Sheez, have a heart will ya?
Haha just kidding, I'm not that defensive. In fact, when I didn't post any chapter for DEAR, I've always thought about my fellow readers' feelings and anticipation. Thus, I plead guilty. But I was engrossed on another writing project I'm currently doing. And this story I'm writing at the moment was an idea I got in 2012, so quite some time ago. I haven't properly written anything but I've had some drafts in my files and I thought I should really start typing those idea and scenes, which is quite the challenge because I'm trying to make the story relatable universally but at the same time I want to retain some kind of realism and elements of my culture and heritage of the place/country I've come from without making those elements too foreign that it's hard for my readers to grasp.
Anyhow if you're my followers or readers of my works, then, I'll tell you the title of the story that I'm working on which is...drum rolls please...and smash those cymbals! The Apprentice Academy – Home of the Gifted and Talented.
What do you think? Sounds interesting, right? ;D
I am so full of myself. Well, hope you're looking forward for my new work!
Now onto my rants.
****
Society can be so bipolar at times.
When you say you want to guide us, you chide us instead. I am at a disbelief on the way society advises its youths or to be specific on the way it preaches things.
Now the matter of this writing or the gist of today's rant is basically, once again, on how society addresses/reacts to people who are slightly different, misunderstood or just plain non-conformists. And why I don't understand the way society acts when it comes to those situations (You never do, RB that's why you rant).
So it doesn't really matter whether you've been in the same situation as mine, seen it or haven't at all, when it comes down to it, we all, especially if you're with me, have faced or known the concept I would like to call Preach and Bitch.
Therefore, I'll be touching on a particular situation which affects me, once again, on a personal and possibly also on a religious level;
The battle of Non-Hijabi Muslims and Hijabi Muslims and in the end, bringing back to the core of the problem, the battle of females vs. society.
So yeah, today I'll be a bit, how do you say 'preachy'? And possibly 'bitchy' too. Come on society, you're no different either and this is for you.
From where I've come from, basically I grew up in a moderate Muslim dominant country, Malaysia. And while the concept of hijab and modest wearing is significant in the teachings of Islam, in our religion, it also teaches about the rights and freedom to make choices and not about enforcing an idea or belief on people. Basically, we don't force people to accept our beliefs or convert to Islam unwillingly. But like any religion, we preach and we spread the words and values of morality and justice – peace, literally the definition of my beloved religion, Islam.
