Chapter 9:
“Um, excuse me, we didn’t order any pizza.” I said, as I went to close the door in his face.
“Oh, I know. I just heard fighting coming from the house and came to see if everything was ok. And now that I’m here, would you like the pizza anyway?” he asked me generally.
“Oh please. If you wouldn’t mind.” Rose said as she bounded to the front door to claim the box. “How much do we owe you for this?” Rose reached into the front of her jeans and pulled out her blue wallet, just as Ethan reached out his hand to push it away.
“It’s on the house pretty ladies.” Ethan said as he caught the piece of paper that Rose was handing him. “What’s this?” he asked, confused.
“Just my number, incase your boss gets pissed off at you for the freebie.” I wasn’t so sure that Rose giving her number away to this guy was such a good idea.
I took her by the hand and dragged her back a few steps, “Rose sweetie, what are you doing?” I whispered.
Rose coughed and went back to the door, as if I hadn’t said anything. “Would you like to come inside for a slice? After all, it is your pizza here.”
I cut in before another word could be said. “Rose, I think the nice gentleman has to go back to work, don’t you?”
“No actually, I’m on my break and if you wouldn’t mind, could I please use your bathroom. I’m busting.” He said through clenched teeth.
Rose beamed, “It’s up the stairs and to the right, just next to the bedroom with the sign ‘Claire’ printed on it like a million times.”
“Thanks,” he said running past us to the stairs.

I stood facing the front road, awaiting the sound to arrive. “What was she thinking?” I whispered to myself. I turned and noticed the door had been shifted a little, so that someone was able to walk inside.
“It’s a nice room you have here, Claire.” I turned back to the window that had entertained me for the past time. Ethan sat where I had just moments earlier.
“How did you know my name?” I asked, bewildered.
Ethan rubbed his jaw, “Just a guess.” He ran his finger back down to his ear. I couldn’t take my eyes off of his jaw. It was so defined, long and straight. But who was I kidding, why did I find him so interesting? “Like what you see?”
I tore my eyes away from his jaw and retraced my steps back to the door. “Rose will be waiting. C’mon.”
“Ok, sweetie,” Ethan said seductively.
“I’m sorry, what did you call me?” I asked. “And why?!”
He looked at me and smiled, “I called you sweetie because you are adorable and I have a feeling that we will be spending a lot more time together in the future. I wanted to make sure that you knew what I thought of you.”
“Err, umm, I’m not quite sure what to say to that. I think it’s time for you to leave. Now.” I knew what I was doing. If this guy knew what he was saying, then I don’t think I wanted him around anymore than he already was. “GO!” I shoved him at the door and instead, he reached out and closed it shut with the other.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this to happen.” He leant down and gently crushed his lips to mine for a second. When he pulled away from the kiss, he had to restrain me. I lashed out at him, believing that what I was doing would help me and Rose get out of this.
