Rule number two, just don't get attached to, somebody you could lose.

I haven't talked to Nick since the day he came over. If I want to play him I have to show him that I don't get attached easily. He needs to see that I can handle not talking to him for a few days.

Here I am, at lunch, sitting with Shawn and Zaray. I was about to take a bite out of my sandwich until I saw Nick walk towards me and I almost chocked on the piece of bread. He looks really hot today, nice.

Wait, no, not nice.

I didn't miss him until I saw him now, and ugh I can't get attached.

"You look good today" Nick says, with a wink.

"I know" I say, with a smile.

He came and sat next to me. I gave him a weird look and ignored him. Shawn noticed and gave me a confused look, I just shrugged.

"Well, it looks like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Nick said, with a little laugh.

I just rolled my eyes. I roll my eyes so much, one day they'll get stuck.

"Yikes, are you on your period?" he asked.

I looked at him with wide eyes. I was trying really hard not to snap his neck. Zaray and Shawn looked at me, and they knew how angry I got. I controlled myself though. That just shows how scared people should be of me. The quiet ones are always the most dangerous.

Nick's POV

I don't know why I just said that to Luna because she looks like she's ready to kill me. It's pretty impressive how she can control her emotions. It's also kind of scary.

She hasn't talked to me in 5 days, no texts, no calls, nothing. That's the thing with her. I don't understand her. She can be so nice and flirty one day, and then all mean and aggressive the next. I hate when she randomly ignores me, but I've got to admit, it only makes me want her more.

What am I saying? She's the one who has to want me.

"I gotta go" Luna says, finally breaking the silence.

Shawn, Zaray, and I all looked at each other before saying "Okay."

-

The last bell rang and I finally got to go home. As I walked out of the school, I saw that dark brown hair I loved.

"Luna!" I yelled.

She didn't look back.

"Luna!"

Still nothing.

"Michael Clifford!"

She turned around and had a shy smile on her face. I missed seeing that smile.

"Hey, is everything alright?" I asked, with concern in my voice.

"Yeah, I'm fine!" she says. She sounded tired.

I might be a guy, but I know that when a girl says she's 'fine', she really isn't.

"Are you sure? You know you can talk to me, right?" I asked her.

"I'm fine." She said once again, emotionless.

I pulled her into a tight, warm hug. I could feel her smile. She hugged back, and I placed my chin on her head. She was so small, I loved it. We stayed like that for what seemed like forever, until she pulled away.

"I gotta go home."

"Do you want to go get some ice cream?" I asked.

"Dude, it's 20 degrees (F) today!" She pulled her jacket closer to her.

"So?"

"Alright, let's go!" She said, linking our arms together.

-

Luna was eating her mint chocolate chip ice cream while I was getting my cookie dough ice cream.

"If I get sick I'm blaming you" She says, with a light cough.

"Hey, you're the one who agreed to this" I say, in defense.

She comes closer to me, bringing her ice cream cup towards my face. I back up a little, and give her a confused look.

"Smell it." She casually tells me.

I lean in to smell the ice cream and my nose meets with the cold substance. I wipe the ice cream off of my nose and frown.

"My nose is cold" I tell her, sounding like a 6 year old.

"Aw, it's red too. Let me kiss it to make it feel better."

I stood there in shock from what she said. I remember when I asked her to feel my forehead to check if I had a fever, and she didn't even want to do that.

She stood on her tippy toes, because I'm a tree and she's a cute, short stack of pancakes. Then she kissed my nose. Even though she just ate ice cream, her lips felt so warm and soft.

"Better?" She asks, with a giggle.

"Way better" I say, blushing a little.

Why am I blushing? I never blush.

We threw away our empty ice cream containers and continued walking. I could see that she was rubbing her hands together. I took them and held them in mine. Girls like when guys hold their hands, right?

I ended up letting go of one hand, still holding onto the other for the rest of the walk. We walked passed two girls, who were probably around 13 years old. I heard one of the girls say "Relationship goals" and the other one said "Yas".

I feel like I did all the talking on the way going home. It's not like I'm complaining, it's just that Luna has been kind of distant. I don't understand why.

We arrived at my house and kind of just stood there in silence for a few minutes.

"So I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked, breaking the silence.

Luna wrapped me into a hug. I was surprised. I was usually the one who had to do that. She would never hug me first, but I enjoyed the rare moment. Having her short arms wrapped around me was something I didn't want to stop feeling. No matter how cold it was, she would make me feel warm inside.

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow. Text you later!" She said, with a smile before walking away.

And right when I think I know her, I am proven wrong.
