"Where, in The Creator's name, have you been?" Francis demanded of her as soon as she walked in the door.
"I'm sorry." Doe sighed.
"It's nearly eleven!"
"Young lady, did you get the bus this late?" Lucia exclaimed.
Even Harri was looking at her with a concerned expression.
"No. Draco gave me a lift." Doe told her mother, "I'm sorry to have worried you."
"Draco?"
"Master Lurie, gave you a lift? Oh, Doe you shouldn't put them out like that." Lucia sighed.
"He said it was no trouble."
"I expect that sort of thing of Francis."
Francis snorted and Doe couldn't help but smile at her.
They were sent to bed early that night. As the girls lay, listening to Doe's mumbling stomach, Francis told her about her day. Her voice was soft and a little mournful. Nothing particularly different had happened, except she felt more pressure from both Harri and her mother. She listened intently to Doe, who left out her argument with Draco and finding the atrium. She told her she fell asleep sorting through a pile of Kitty's clothes.
"It was nice of Draco to drive you." Francis murmured.
"Are you missing him, already?"
"Silly, isn't it. I can't have two days away without feeling guilty. How pathetic." Francis did sound angry.
"It shows how much you care for him."
"But this is supposed to be about me. I'm the one being married off to a creep." Francis' irritation emitted from her like heat, "It's so stupid. The obvious choice is to stay here."
"I don't think so. Besides, Francis," Doe rolled over to face her, "I want to stay with the Luries."
"I know. I've already thought about that." Francis said.
"Well you have one more day." Doe yawned sleepily.
"Yes." Francis said miserably.
