The Rescue Mission

Katniss' P.O.V

After leaving Cressida, I had a smile on my face, but quickly wiped it off when I got to the main control room, I didn't want anyone to think something was wrong.

Upon arrival at the main control room I saw Beetee, Effie, Haymitch, Plutarch and President Coin, all watching a screen, I soon realised Gale was on this rescue mission, but I was glad, he was becoming the selfless best friend I had once known.

"Katniss, Snow's getting control over the system again, we need you to talk to him, to distract him away from the rescue mission." Beetee said and I nodded, letting him know that I was ready when he was.

Just then the soldiers drop into the tribute centre, into a room that looked as if it had been used for torture, and recently. They're where needles everywhere and small amounts of liquid dripping out of the syringes.

Suddenly a blind light came on in the tribute centre, revealing that the Capitol had control over the system once again.

"Put me on. Now!" I demanded.

"Your on Katniss" was Beetee's reply.

"President Snow, President Snow. It's Katniss, I need to speak to you. President Snow." Then we saw the large screen flicker and Snow's face showed up.

"Ah, The Mockingjay, I assume your not calling to thank me for the roses." He said, his voice soft, but poisonous.

"I never wanted any of this, I just wanted to save my sister, and keep Peeta alive."

"Ah, Miss Everdeen, it's the things we love the most that destroy us." Too bad I never really loved Peeta, he's just a good friend. I love Cressida and I know she's safe.

"Take me, let Peeta, Johanna and Annie go. You'll get what you want." I offered, but I felt my heart break, Cressida would be devastated if I was taken by the Capitol.

"The time for noble sacrifice has passed."

"I've always kept my promises. Haven't I?"

"You promised you wouldn't let war start, now look what's happened. Oh and I'd say goodbye to your friends that are in the tribute centre." He said before shutting off camera.

I broke down. "I'm going to loose them both, he's been taunting me this entire time. I'm going to loose them." I sob, as Haymitch walks towards me and hugs me, but as he let's go I collapse to my knees.

"Call Cressida down here. Now!" I demanded. And Coin sends someone to get her.

Cressida's P.O.V

I was in the room with Pollux, Messalla and Castor. Waiting for Katniss to come back. I haven't told them about Katniss and I, mostly because I'm still pissed at Castor.

Just then there's a knock on the door, and we all look at the door until Messalla answers it. He closes the door after a few mutters.

"You're wanted down at the main control room, urgently, Cressida." That got me worried, and I hoped Katniss was alright.

I hurried down the dark tunnels until I got to the main control room and opened the door. The first thing I noticed is that I don't see Katniss, and panic sets in as I look around. I then heard quite sobs and they where coming from Katniss, she was sat down and had her legs pulled upto her chest and head resting in her knees and I knew something was wrong.

I quickly walked to her and pulled her into my arms, letting her head rest on my shoulder as I held her closely to me.

"What happened to her?" I asked, my voice probably full of concern.

"She was talking to Snow, to distract him, when Snow revealed he knew they where there already." Haymitch answered. Whilst I sat there with Katniss, attempting to calm her down, but I couldn't give too much of our relationship away, since we haven't decided if we where going to tell anyone.

After about 45 minutes Katniss calmed down, and we both got up to leave the Main control room.

"Can I stay with you tonight?" Katniss asked quitely.

"Katniss you don't have to ask." I say, turning her around so I'm looking in her eyes. "But the crew will be there."

"That's OK." She said, giving me a small smile, and I smiled back at her.

"Ok, I'm going to have to tell the guys about us. They knew about my feelings towards you awhile ago. You go and get what you need and meet me at my room. Ok, babe?" I say.

"Ok." She says, pecking my lips lightly before walking to her dorm.

Katniss P.O.V

I walk back to my dorm leaving Cressida to tell her crew about our relationship. I was slightly nervous about them knowing but I knew it would be alright.

When I get back to my dorm I see Prim and decide to tell her about us.

"Hey, Prim, can I talk to you?"

"Yeah sure." She replies excitedly.

"Umm. M-me and Cre-essida are d-d-ating eachother." I stuttered, waiting for her reaction.

"I knew it would happen eventually. I've seen the way you look at her, and I've got her looking at you aswell. Oh and don't worry I won't tell anyone." She replied happily, and I walked up to hug her.

"Thank you. I'm staying in her dorm tonight so can you tell mum please?" And she just nods.

I get a new grey jumpsuit, pajamas, toothbrush, hair brush and clean underwear and put it in a bag. Once I was packed I went to Cressida's dorm.
